Catching up on tweets and great to see what the @LP_Academy Future Leaders have been doing! looking forward to hearing further what contribution this can make.
@LP_Academy are rightly proud of their Future Leaders! The "Treezilla" project involved gathering data from a tree in the school grounds & sharing data on its "ecoservices" - benefits to the environment & humans - with @OpenUniversity & @Treezilla_org. 👏

We're featured on tonight's @BBCCountryfile with Treezilla's Dr Phil Wheeler @Om_Phil introducing a community group in Bradford to mapping trees and understanding their ecosystem services.
A @BBCCountryfile Plant Britain autumn special airs tomorrow and takes a fascinating look at how trees and hedgerows help in combatting #climatechange.
There’s also a guest appearance from The OU's Dr Philip Wheeler, Senior Lecturer in Ecology.

There's a demo of how trees can reduce flood risk which has been a particular issue in that part of Bradford. The treezilla app can calculate estimates of this and other 'regulating' ecosystem services.
But we know that people value urban trees for many other reasons, so we're part of the @BranchingOut21 project understanding a diversity of these values. Look for developments in assessing social and cultural values of trees through the site and app in the next couple of years.
