So frustrated with @hydroottawa crews trashing our yard while they cut other people’s trees. Destroyed this flower bed and left debris and holes all over the lawn. This is very sad.

I need @OC_Transpo to spend less on fare enforcement and more on accessibility support. Riding public transit regularly with a baby has eroded the little faith I have in Ottawans and city services. The system is bad but so are the people!!

Indigo was shut down coz it's owner funds foundation for Lone Soliders - encourgaing & funding foreign soldiers to join Israeli occupation forces.
It's not anti-Semitic to criticize companies that actively support illegal, violent occupation of Palestine

1. Heather Reisman founded an organization that actively and materially supports the IDF's recruitment of foreign soldiers (the HESEG Foundation for Lone Soldiers).
2. According to hundreds of legal experts, the IDF's attacks on Gaza meet the definition of genocide or genocidal intent under international law.
3. Making a poster connecting points 1 and 2 at the corporation Reisman founded and currently runs is *political speech* not hate speech.
4. You are a writer who needs freedom of speech to work. Regardless of your opinion of the posters, you should consider defending speech as opposed to the Orwellian Toronto Police on this matter.

1.5 million people in Gaza have been displaced from their homes. 10,000 have been killed, with more wounded. They desperately need food, water, medical supplies, and fuel. Yet, in the midst of this horrific human tragedy, House Republicans oppose any humanitarian aid. Pathetic.

At Al-Shifa hospital #Gaza is without power. We have premature babies who need incubators, we have patients in the ICU who need respirators, we have over 600 patients that need medical care. A hospital needs power. We need an immediate ceasefire.

Canada was one of 7 countries in the 192-member United Nations to vote against a resolution (Nov.9) calling for an end to illegal Israeli colonization of territories seized by military force in contravention of international law. The UK, France,Italy,Germany voted in favour.

When I was violently beaten up by someone who called me a “ugly chink” the police kept telling me it wasn’t hate speech nor a hate crime. Like they actively stopped me from even describing it as that.

🔵 CHARGE LAID 🔵
Following the protest on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, after consultation with the CPS Hate Crime Coordinator, one man has been charged with causing a disturbance & hate motivation has been applied to the charge.
Ahead of the protest, our Diversity Resource Team & our Public Safety Unit met with members of both groups involved in the protest to ensure the safety of the participants, the public & our police officers & to discuss some of the language & signage observed at past protests.
During the protest, a man took to the stage to speak to the large crowd in attendance. Through amplification & a public address system, he acknowledged this conversation with police. He then proceeded to repeatedly use an anti-Semitic phrase while encouraging the crowd to follow along.
Hate speech, as defined in the Criminal Code, is complex & several contextual factors must be considered before charges can be laid. We work closely with the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service to review any potential hate crime behaviour at the protests to determine if those thresholds have been met.
We will continue to police behaviours, not beliefs.
