This little bliter gets me every time I find it in a mire! It's always a bit different to everything else and looks exciting! Those awesome, pointy papls don't lie though, thus is the rather common Gongylidiellum vivum. @BritishSpiders @cofnod @graemelyons @chalkspring

I'm running a spider ID workshop at Ashdown Forest and Old Lodge for field work on Friday. Sign up here eventbrite.co.uk/e/spider-id… I recorded nearly 160 species last year. We could see Micrommata virescens, Raft Spider, Evarcha arcuata and maybe even a female Euophrys petrensis!

1/3 #speciesaday no. 394 is Purse Web Spider (Atypus affinis). Nationally Scarce. This male was spotted yesterday on the Iford Estate by Wes (one of the farmers) while I was a running a short course on conservation grazing. New for the whole survey! Has an incredible ecology.
