The disclosure of a Russian owned factory in Ireland providing material support during the Ukraine invasion has surprised and angered the overwhelmingly pro-Ukrainian Irish public
The usual bluffers have sought to distort the reality of Irish sentiment for their agenda:
The facts of Ireland and Ukraine:
- Ireland has taken in over 113,000 Ukrainians since the invasion, one of the highest per capita in Europe
- They have received extensive state support, including accommodation, income supports, healthcare, education and public service access
- This cost over 1 billion euro in 2024 alone
- Ireland has given almost half a billion in direct aid to Ukraine, in humanitarian aid, development assistance and nonlethal military support
- None of the above applies to Russia
- The Irish government has been vocally critical of Russia and supportive of Ukraine, officials visiting Ukraine more than once during the invasion.
- The Ukrainian president visited Ireland and thanked Ireland for its ‘unwavering support’, saying
“Ireland, a militarily neutral state, is not neutral morally”
- Irish polls show some of the highest support for continuing to aid Ukraine, even if it results in energy shortages
