The human genome contains some incredibly repetitive stretches of DNA that are hard to read (i.e., to sequence). @Genome_gov has been funding start-up companies to develop technologies for sequencing such complicated regions of DNA.

A wonderful article that discusses not only how @genome_gov SBIRs enabled us to turn small ideas into cool products but also how it seeded academic industrial collaboration on projects such as @HumanPangenome. We also met great friends along the way! NIH SBIRs rock!

So proud to have collaborated here. This ambitious sequencing project really pushed us to get our automated Nanobind brain extraction protocols out sooner. Science waits for no one!
Interested in generating Nanopore Long-Read sequencing data from human brain samples?🧬🧠Then check out our new protocol here dx.doi.org/10.17504/protocol… that can generate uniform high quality ONT data (N50s ~30kb & 30X coverage) from frontal cortex tissue at scale!
