This is great! Guys sacrificed, lived by the standard, were selfless and did whatever they could to win. I’m not a Knicks fan, but I am a fan of doing things the right way. Coach Brown and the fellas got it right this year. #CultureWins
Mike Brown: "The buy in. It was a contract that I had everybody sign opening dinner night and I still have it framed. Everybody's signature from Mr. Dolan to Leon Rose, all the coaches, all the players, all the staff that was there that night signed and basically it was about committing to sacrifice, having a competitive spirit, being connected, believing in each other in the process while holding everybody accountable even myself...I told everybody that night if you're not gonna abide by this I'd have more respect for you to not sign it than to sign it and BS your way through tonight and BS your way through this and everybody bought in from day 1"

But real winners are the ones who get knocked down, take the hit, learn the lesson, and get back up when nobody would blame them for staying down. Life will test your faith. Keep fighting. Keep growing. Keep showing up. That’s a win.

Sometimes it’s just being in the right situation. When one door closes another opens (sometimes more than one). How many coaches have gone on to do great things after falling on the sword? Coach Brown is another example of perseverance, belief, and staying true to himself.
Mike Brown was fired four times — twice by the same team. He could have walked away bitter. Instead, he kept learning, kept showing up, and kept believing his story was not finished. Now, he’s a champion. Sometimes rejection is not the end of the road. It is preparation for the right opportunity. Your setback may simply be setting the stage for your comeback.

The only way to get it is to put in the endless hours of work that others aren’t willing to commit to. It’s not an accident when guys become much better players than so many others. Hard work wins out!

Winning cultures hold everyone accountable. Each detail is held to a high standard. That’s why our motto is “Rise to the Standard.” It’s a high standard that doesn’t lower for anyone. No one is above the program. The behaviors you don’t allow are just as important as the behaviors you allow. You can’t be afraid of confrontation. You can’t be afraid to hold others to the high standard. You can’t be afraid to make people uncomfortable. “We don’t do that here” is a simple phrase that sets that high standard. It separates the great programs from average ones. Remind yourself, and others, “we don’t do that here” when something falls below the standard. That’s how you build a winning culture. It takes intentionality and it takes everyone. Build the culture and protect the culture, no matter what, at all costs.

This is such a powerful quote from Hornets Head Coach, Charles Lee “Anybody that's gonna push you loves you more than anybody that's gonna let you stay the same."

The difference is in how important the game is to them, and how important their TEAM is. Coachable guys want to win and uncoachable guys care more about themselves and their personal achievements. Programs win with guys who are “team first!”
When coachable players are held accountable, they understand it's for the good of the team and seek to learn from the situation. Uncoachable players think they're being picked on and play the blame game when held accountable.

The summer will always let you know how many real basketball players you have on your team. No mandatory practices or workouts it’s just IF YOU WANT TO get better. 🙏🏾

Nailed it. It’s not enough to just want to be good…it takes discipline, repetitions and a focus that few have when they get on the court. Don’t just “shootaround,” go get better!
‼️ THIS IS A REMINDER TO ALL HS BASKETBALL PLAYERS‼️ Summer is where you separate yourself. Stay disciplined. Get in the gym an hour a day. That’s all you need. You will separate yourself. Look at your screen time… you got an hour to spare.

It’s all about the work people are willing to put in. There is no success without doing the work day after day.
Nobody talks about the lonely part. “People always talk about talent, but what they don’t wanna talk about is loneliness. The empty gym…” - Larry Bird Confidence. Nobody gives it to you. You build it rep by rep. In the gym when no one’s watching. x.com/LarryBirdDaily/status/…

"Culture is how we act, interact, and respond." Culture isn’t on the wall framed. It’s filmed. Every correction, every mistake, every hard moment leaves evidence of what your team really values.
