After the Cold War, scientists & citizens campaigned for the establishment of a nuclear weapon non-prioliferation treaty. Years later, we are in the streets to advocate for a fossil fuel non-prioliferation treaty. You can support our campaigns at tinyurl.com/SR-people-not-oi…

We now have video footage alongside systematic evidence that Israeli soldiers gang rape Palestinian captives and there is zero outrage from Western media. I am loosing my mind.

One of the reasons so many of us go on about climate change is because if you think this terrifying civil disorder and rioting is bad now, wait till the food supply starts being really affected by erratic weather. It seems no one in power can hear this. All this has got to be stopped or we are toast. Don’t take my word for it.

Almost half of scientists are willing to engage in protest or non-violent civil disobedience over climate change but aren't currently doing so How do we change that? 🧵1/

1. What we are seeing all over social media now is flat denial of the very existence of the far right. Far right agitators claim to be simple “patriots”, defending their country. Which is just what far right agitators have said for the past century.🧵

Companies like ExxonMobil don't want you to know that this summer's brutal heatwave was Brought To You By Big Oil. So we bought billboards in cities across America to make sure the public knows the truth. More in @RollingStone: rollingstone.com/politics/po…

Plenty of people were concerned about #climatechange in the years before 1970. “We discovered a universe of discussions by scientists, members of Congress, by members of the executive branch,” @NaomiOreskes said “and the more we looked, the more we found.” grist.org/science/lost-histo…

Your 'doom quote' for today: "It wasn't until the 1980's that scientists started to worry -- to think that the future was perhaps almost here -- and a few mavericks began to argue that anthropogenic climate change was actually already underway." amazon.com/Merchants-Doubt-H…

Nearly 1 in 4 members of Congress are owned by Big Oil. They deny reality as alarm grows in the US over global heating and extreme weather. This isn’t just corruption, it’s a bonafide threat to our safety. theguardian.com/us-news/arti…

Degrowth Ecosocialism, (as radical needed) reducing large (per capita) economies down to whatever size can be maintained long term in an biosphere compatible way, and always putting ecological (such as rewilding) and egalitarian priorities first, is the only way forward
Replying to @aashisjo
This so-called “low carbon” energy transition, it turns out, is neither low-carbon nor will it reduce our materials extraction. These techno-solutionist plans are deeply embedded in the modern industrial capitalist system & are driving an acceleration in consumption. 9/

The extreme heat at the #Paris2024 Olympics would not have happened without climate change, researchers say. 📈 “If the atmosphere wasn’t overloaded with emissions from burning fossil fuel, Paris would have been about 3°C cooler and much safer for sport.” sciencenews.org/article/fran…
