If you are into the ideas of David Deutsch or Karl Popper, or are interested in the interplay of creativity with criticism, you might enjoy this talk I gave about a month ago at "Conjecture Conference Oxford 2026".

Russell Crowe on Gladiator 2: โ€˜They failed, and they failed because they didnโ€™t understand what made the first film so successful: it had a moral core. Hereโ€™s the thing, most people want that. On the surface, they might go for entertainment, but if theyโ€™re going to love something and keep it with them forever, like that movie? โ€ฆThe love for that thing is because of its moral core. All guys want to be that man who can stay that strong, and all women want a man who can love them in that way.โ€™

When people tell you who they are, believe them. - this is excellent advice and is applicable outside of politics.
Just so you know who this man is, @ZackPolanski believes that someone smashing a sledgehammer into a police woman's back is legitimate and justifiable "direct action". When people tell you who they are, believe them.

We dance to the rhythm of Jevonsโ€™s generous wheel: a cycle where the more bountifully we reap, the more miraculously the soil yields, turning our careful conservation into a wild, everlasting spring. To plant seeds that blossom the faster we cultivate them.

When you put it that way...

The export restrictions on Fable 5 and Mythos 5 serve to discipline Anthropic both for its resistance to military deployment during the Caracas operation and for its ambition to secure a state-protected monopoly. Rather than permitting the lab to leverage doom-centered safety narratives to lock in a government-sanctioned moat, the Trump administration is enforcing a nationalist, Hamiltonian framework. Under this doctrine, slowing down the domestic AI industry to accommodate a single firm's agenda directly undermines American survival in the great power competition against China. By using export compliance to halt the flagship models, the state forces Anthropic to abandon its protectionist strategy and align its capabilities directly with national interests.

Chattanooga's new courthouse. The style is called "Greco-Deco". We're taking this worldwide. We're taking this to Mars. This is the answer.

The TLDR: Words have denotations and connotations, and subtle differences between words are often in the latter. Claude is very good at understanding subtle differences in connotations.
