I’m walking through New York City now, everyone’s cheering and screaming, cars are honking, fireworks are going off, strangers are high fiving each other. I’ve heard stories about teams imbuing the souls of cities but I never really saw it until tonight. God bless the Knicks.

The Knicks were 22-to-1 to win the title prior to the playoffs, which is the longest odds any winning team has ever had

I went to my first Knicks game in 2009 when I was 7. After 12 years and 30 defeats I finally saw a win against the Hawks in a playoff game in 2021 at age 19. I never could’ve dreamed of something so magical in a million years, I didn’t think sports could still do this to me.

Amidst an absolutely jubilant year for NYC politics, the only thing that’s made me sad is the collapse of turnout in the Bronx as it’s soared everywhere else. The borough should be seen as the most important challenge for DSA—the establishment sure isn’t mobilizing these voters!
Bronx and Manhattan have almost identical populations

in less than 1 hour, an event organically formed and now there's 200 people going to the manhattan bridge to watch the knick's game tonight. new york is the only city in the world where something like this would be possible

Can you pinpoint where McMorrow pivoted to attacking El-Sayed?

The idea that it’s antisemitic to hate pedophile elites is the final boss of liberal identity politics. They finally found the most radical, whacko, voter repellent, bootlicking take you could possibly come up with. Bravo. The anti-antisemitism warriors are so dangerously inept.

When Jamaal Bowman faced one of the most brutal, racist primaries as an incumbent, they did absolutely nothing for him because he happened to be a Black man with left-wing politics. It’s the same reason why they won’t support Manley in Florida's 20th district despite all the rhetoric about black voters in the south

"We proudly are supporting, as part of the Congressional Black Caucus and the New York delegation, Congressman Adriano Espaillat," says Jeffries. Introducing CBC Chair Yvette Clarke, he adds, "We got some powerhouses here, y'all. It's how important this election is."

Anthony Bourdain wrote about this. This was his pitch for Parts Unknown. Trust me, read the whole thing.
So far this World Cup has been a great reminder that we make too many assumptions about one another, and that the vast majority of humanity is awesome. It's been pretty damn refreshing, honestly.

I’ve met Claire multiple times in person and she’s one of the most normal, down to earth politicians I’ve ever encountered. She has a pretty ordinary background and a pretty accessible communicative style. But I get it, she’s an artist and artists are evil gentrifying hipsters.
This lady is like the perfect caricature of what every median voter negatively associates with Dems. Just her look alone...weird, over-academic, off-putting. Privileged failed artist, complaining about how unfair the world is. The ideal DSA candidate.

The gentrifying hipster trope really has just become a nonsensical catch all slur against literally anyone who’s a leftist. It doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor, white or nonwhite, it doesn’t matter where you live, if you’re a leftist, you’re considered a gentrifying hipster.

It’s a bad decision, but the basic problem is that cops and prisons are wildly popular with the working class and nonwhite voters socialists need to construct a winning coalition, and crime is uniquely salient issue in local elections where grassroots politics are most effective.
NYC-DSA released a public statement criticizing Mayor Mamdani's proposal to increase NYPD headcount. NYC-DSA leadership has been extremely reluctant to publicly criticize Mamdani since he took office, so this is a very big deal. instagram.com/nycdsa/p/DZf0Z…

The DSA organizers who ran Zohran’s electoral machine like you and I might hate law and order politics, but the vast majority of his actual voters—nonwhite working and middle class folks—love law and order politics. How are we gonna manage the tensions within this coalition?!

There an extended period of time where the universal liberal consensus was that it was racist and sexist to think working class voters factor economic issues in their calculus of who to support and it was one of the most insane and destructive things to ever happen to liberalism.
NEW: In 2018, white working-class voters approved of Trump on the economy by 30 points. Now they disapprove by as much as that margin in some polls. My piece on how Trump’s big blue-collar white vulnerability is reshaping the 2026 landscape nytimes.com/2026/06/13/us/po…

Britain isn’t on the verge of a far-right government, they have a far-right government! The Starmer Regime is Farage, it’s already dismantling civil liberties, terrorizing immigrants, presiding over racial pogroms, criminalizing leftist politics and jailing critics of Israel.
Gut wrenching to see four young people jailed for direct action against an arms supplier to Israel. Years in prison for protesting to save lives in Gaza, with 'terrorism' used despite no jury convicting them of it. A truly dangerous attack on the right to protest.
