🚨BREAKING: Filton 4 sentenced as terrorists Amnesty opposes the use of terrorism powers in this case. It is completely disproportionate to punish protesters for criminal damage as if they were terrorists, a sentence which stays with you for life. The defendants in today’s case were sentenced as terrorists because prosecutors want to make an example of them. Today's decision shows how direct action protesters could be treated in the future. The use of terrorism laws against direct action protesters must end. Together we must continue calling out the abuse of power and fighting for our right to protest. Read our position: Criminal Damage, Direct Action, Terrorism: Misuse of counter-terrorism powers in the UK: amn.st/6015B87ZCx

Also 69k HMRC staff (probably the biggest proportion of callers), some members of the armed forces, some other civil servants, various famous people ... it's literally just the line for people where there's a greater risk of privacy breaches and like 10 people work on it
Replying to @Telegraph
The phone line, PD1, is typically reserved for MPs and Royals Angela Rayner handled her tax affairs related to underpaying £40,000 in Stamp Duty on it An HMRC spokesman said: “PD1 is not a ‘VIP service’ but a helpline for taxpayers whose records require greater protection and therefore can only be accessed by specialist staff. This can be for a number of reasons.” Story: telegraph.co.uk/money/consum…

This is just such inflammatory reporting trying to stir up anger at all trans people over something that applies only to trans people with a gender recognition certificate because it's aiming to prevent the GRC being disclosed inadvertently through payroll info

So the argument here is that renters never have to make tough financial decisions? And presumably our bills just don't exist?
Replying to @AllyFogg
Do you think a man in is 40s in a rented house share is fit to lead a country? He's likely never had to manage a household or make tough financial decisions. He's living like a student and his politics are like that of a student union, angry and thinks the rich are at fault for everything. He'd be better suited to be the leader of a union. They are just a protest party, they cannot run a country.

Every day that we get closer to the renters rights act coming into effect, is a day I feel more and more like screaming "sold properties don't magically vanish!"

If a foreign power wiped out 160 American schoolgirls, it would be regarded as one of the biggest traumas and crimes of the post-war US. Yet this atrocity in Iran is being treated as some unfortunate mishap. Their lives matter, and this is an abominable crime.

Four legal models exist. Only full decriminalisation removes criminal penalties and centres safety, health & constitutional rights. It’s the evidence-based approach. It’s the rights-based approach. We remain clear: #DecrimNow

Continue logging evidence of public officials calling for the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure.
“Just flatten it. We flattened Berlin. We flattened Tokyo.” In an interview with Sky News Arabia, US Senator Lindsey Graham defended Israel’s genocide in Gaza, comparing the actions used by the US and its allies during World War II

🚨 Lots of people on Universal Credit are in work. Wages are just so low that even with a Universal Credit top up people still can't afford food and bills. Re-post to help us spread the message.

When it comes to feeding children who survived a brutal war in Gaza, every excuse falls away, every justification goes silent, and duty turns into urgent action. These children do not need skill they need a living conscience. They are not waiting for words of sympathy, but for a meal that preserves life. Your donation today is not a passing charity; it is a life saved, dignity protected, and a humanitarian message that says: Gaza is not alone. With your support, we continue. Every donation makes a difference Donation link: chuffed.org/project/160226-e…

Israel has killed at least 342 Palestinians since the fictitious "ceasefire" was signed. Describing these massacres as "testing the ceasefire" is straightforward racism. If this was describing 24 Israelis killed in a Hamas attack, this language would never be used.
BREAKING: At least 24 people are dead and 54 wounded after Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, testing the ceasefire that began in October, officials say. apnews.com/article/gaza-isra…

This will impact EVERYONE. Combined with other anti-protest measures proposed like bans on face coverings, the Crime and Policing Bill will see the right to protest in the UK stripped to the bone. Protest is fundamental to democracy. We must protect it. libertyhumanrights.org.uk/is…

This isn’t an unavoidable fact of life. It’s the direct result of policy choices made my those in power. It doesn’t have to be this way.
