Had the chance to join the @SmartWatRegion team at Rockway Public School to see the Food Forest Design Team’s gardens become a reality. Thank you to the Nurture WR group for leading the youth through this process and guiding garden designs at #WaterlooRegion schools with youth.

✅ cutting red tape ✅ removing barriers ✅ building critical infrastructure The Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act will help build homes faster at a lower cost. 🏗️🏡
Today, our government introduced the Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act, as part of our ongoing commitment to cut red tape, speed up government processes and get more homes built faster.
These measures recognize the struggles that our municipal partners have faced in building homes and are targeted at removing those obstacles.
Municipalities know their communities best. That’s why we’re supporting them by giving them the funding and tools they need to build much-needed infrastructure and more housing, of all types.

Pleased to see the Prov. Gov’t listening to municipalities & continuing to engage, all while providing new funding & the tools that are essential as we grow. We know there are more challenges ahead & it will not be a one size fits all approach to achieving our shared goals. 1/2

Long-term financial sustainability is a concern for all Ontario municipalities, not just Toronto. Revenue sources aren't changing & demands on local governments are increasing as the list of services provided by municipalities grows. 1/3
Ontario and Toronto have reached a new deal that will help achieve long-term financial stability and sustainability for the city. Learn more: news.ontario.ca/en/release/1…

This isn't just a Toronto issue - its an issue across Ontario & across Canada. @FCM_online & @AMOPolicy have done extensive work on the need for a new municipal funding framework to support future growth. This is an active concern for @RegionWaterloo & our area municipalities.
