Congratulations Ireland. It looks survived the first surge of Covid 19. A new government, once formed, must 1.) Address the severe shortage of ICU beds and hospital consultants which led us to adopt the knee jerk decision to shut society down, and take over the private sector.

(Uh oh)? Hmm. Fixed it: "Ireland's heroic medical scientists propelled Ireland to being the 4th most tested country in the world*, having tested an incredible 5.3% of the entire population in 11 weeks, for a complex new disease and saved tons of Irish lives in the process".

It's really important that elderly people get outside and exercise to maintain muscle mass and bone density, and get some vitamin D. But they are also at greatest risk from Covid. Would it be too much to ask that we dedicate one hour per day to our parents, aunts and uncles? 1/

According to major trauma audit 50% of major trauma is a result of a low fall, often at home. This still happens while cocooning. Please be careful at home, particularly if home supports are scarce. Still seeing a lot of hip fractures-try hard to avoid! #TraumaIreland

Wonderful talk from self-confessed « hip fracture nerd » and long standing FFN member Michelle Fitzgerald. Excellent to hear that the Irish hip fracture database includes rehabilitation outcomes, 90% coverage at 16 centres. #ffncongress2018
