I am incredibly disappointed in the uniparty Republicans that chose to get the backs of the far left democrats that abandoned Texas rather than getting the backs of their constituents!

Today, I voted to censure! 27 of my GOP colleagues chose to not hold Democrats accountable in this way. The vote was 44 to 27 and failed, but it’s not over. #txlege

The Texas House Republican caucus just voted against holding the Dems who fled accountable in any real way. This motion did NOT pass by the required majority.

Failure to hold Democrats accountable for abandoning their duties will result in: MORE quorum breaks. MORE blatant waste of taxpayers time & money while they fundraise in Illinois and California. I supported all motions in Caucus, and will do so on the House floor. #txlege

The tenuous Republican Caucus unity that has been developing since the Dems broke quorum is over, and it’s the fault of Speaker Burrows. Only 44 Republican members were willing to punish the Derelict Dems after Burrows’ whipping votes against it. Very disappointing.

Truth. The unity was nice while it lasted. And yet it is our duty to fight to bring this to a vote. There is a motion being circulated to force this to the floor. Please call your Rep and demand that they sign on.

This morning the Texas House Republican Caucus voted on a motion to censure derelict Democrat House members who broke quorum and fled the state. The vote on the following censure motion failed to reach the 2/3rds threshold required in caucus bylaws. It is a travesty that any Republican member would vote in favor of protecting Democrats. There must be consequences beyond a mere slap on the wrist. #txlege

I am extremely disappointed that the motion to censure the Democrats who abandoned the Texas House to break quorum has failed. These members knowingly violated House Rule 5, Section 3—a rule they themselves voted for—by being absent without leave in order to stop the people’s work. I voted YES to censure, which would have removed chairmanships & vice chairmanships, stripped seniority credit for the 89th Legislature, and reduced office budgets for each day absent. The vote was 44–27, just short of the 47 votes (2/3rds) needed to pass. Texans deserve accountability, not excuses. #txlege

That motion would have removed the seniority ranking, stripped the chairman/vice chairman positions, and reduced the budget of those members. I voted to censure. Today, I voted yes on all of the motions to strengthen House rules, and to censure and punish Democrats who fled from their elected duty to break quorum. Unfortunately, there were 27 Republicans who decided not to punish them, and the punishment motion failed. #noaccountability

House Dems who fled the state to grandstand and delay redistricting, cost Texas taxpayers millions. In the Republican caucus our effort to censure the Dems failed by 3 votes with 27 Republicans voting No. I proudly voted for censure and put my name on the "secret" ballot. #txlege

If you abandon the Texas House, you abandon the people who sent you there. Skipping out MUST come with consequences. Vice chairmanships should be revoked, fines enforced, and every rule applied to hold them accountable!

I voted “No” on adjourning the Texas House from Wednesday to Monday because I was concerned Democrats might use the break to flee the state and break quorum. They did.
