Ripple was deeply involved in the carbon markets sector. Between 2021 and 2023, Ripple pursued a vision of making the XRP Ledger (XRPL) a major infrastructure layer for carbon credit markets. In 2022, Ripple announced a $100 million commitment to support the development of global carbon markets. The initiative focused on improving transparency, verification, tokenization, and liquidity within the carbon credit ecosystem. One of the partners specifically highlighted by Ripple was Xange. According to Ripple’s official announcement, Xange.com is a UN-supported climate fintech company that is building carbon credit verification, tokenization, and trading capabilities on the XRP Ledger. Today, Xange appears to be evolving beyond an XRPL-exclusive carbon credit marketplace. The company may be moving toward a broader, multi-chain platform that transforms environmental data into financial assets and climate-finance products. However, Ripple’s logo continues to appear prominently on Xange’s updated website. This suggests that the relationship between Xange and Ripple remains active, or at least that the partnership continues to hold strategic significance. Rather than being solely a carbon credit marketplace, Xange increasingly appears to be positioning itself as an infrastructure provider for environmental asset tokenization, climate finance, and real-world asset (RWA) markets.

Bitso’s regulated MXN-backed stablecoin, MXNB, will be issued on XRPL and integrated into Ripple’s Payments on DEX infrastructure, supporting enterprise stablecoin settlement across Latin America.
