That literally wouldn't work successfully for a third season of a TV show, the series is set in the present, giving 90% of screentime to the past of only one of the characters where the rest of the main characters do not appear at all and don't have an arc, just doesn't work
forgive me for wanting my 18th century historical gothic vampire drama to have a bit more 18th century historical gothic vampire drama. this should be 80-90% of the show and it’s not unfortunately

because a specific thing from the book has not been presented the way you expected, it's suddenly not there. when the truth is, we are very much being presented those things still, you just need to be looking for them. but that requires engaging w what the show gives.

there's smth about the need to encounter information in the way that you were expecting it that is rly throwing ppl off. first the narration and then the book beats. ppl are having a hard time facing the season *as is*, as opposed to exactly what they expected to get from it.
i don’t think we’ve lost a lestat who buys treats for his nieces and cares for his father bc we have a lestat who buys candy on halloween and keeps dee safe and adores christine and the band like the core of him hasn’t changed at all its just being given to us in new ways

#tvlspoilers Surviving the wolves is a failure in itself. It was not meant to happen. Because it happened, Lestat becomes sexually desirable for Gabriella, leading to sexual assault, and later on it becomes the reason why Magnus targets Lestat, leading to his rape.
