Applebaum: Putin has presented a fake image of Russia to the world. He talks about leading a traditional society In reality, divorce is very high, abortion is common, very few Russians go to church and less than 5% have ever read a Bible. It's not a traditional culture at all 1/

Lyle and Eleanor Gittens of Miami, Florida, have been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest living married couple. At 108 and 107 years old respectively, their combined age of 216 years marks an extraordinary milestone. The couple first met in 1941 at Clark Atlanta University and married in 1942, just before Lyle was drafted into World War II. Together, they raised three children, built successful careers in government service, and navigated more than eight decades of history. Eleanor even earned a doctorate in Urban Education at the age of 69. When asked about the secret to their long and happy marriage, Eleanor’s answer was simple: “We love each other.” Lyle smiled and added, “I love my wife.” Their beautiful story is a heartfelt proof of enduring love that has lasted over 83 years, and still counting.

Zohran Mamdani spoke at a Rikers Island graduation ceremony honoring 57 incarcerated people who earned their high school diplomas. One graduate, Elijah Smith, said he didn’t expect the mayor to show up, but his presence meant something: “It helped. Someone cares about the incarcerated individuals in this jail.” Sometimes dignity starts with simply showing up.

As Muslims in New York City and around the world mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year, Muharram calls us to reflect on the values of justice, compassion, and moral courage that guide us in our lives and our communities. As we welcome this new year, may it renew our commitment to one another and to the work of building a city where every New Yorker can live with dignity and opportunity.

Very emotional moment from the interview with Zelenskyy. You should watch this. JOURNALIST: Do you miss being an actor? ZELENSKYY:?I miss being a good father. JOURNALIST: When your children were little, what did you tell them the most? What was the thing that you told them the most when they were small? ZELENSKYY: I love you. JOURNALIST: And what do you tell them now that they're older? ZELENSKYY: Oh, I miss you. JOURNALIST: When was the last time you cried? ZELENSKYY: I will try to do it after our interview. No, I mean this, between us. I'm a normal man and then there are a lot of different moments, between us, almost each day, a lot of losses on the battlefield and civilians, and there are absolutely crazy attacks on our people. And I'm just, it's… I mean, It's very difficult really, when I give orders (medals). I said about it. It's always difficult for me when I give orders (medals) to the mothers and fathers, who lost their children. In such moments, really, I often cry. JOURNALIST: Are you a hero? ZELENSKYY: No. JOURNALIST: So who is your hero? ZELENSKYY:?My hero? My children, my army, our army, and Ukrainian people. So I'm a part… I'm also a Ukrainian, so I'm a part of our nation. But now our nation, I think, that our nation is absolutely heroic.
