This thread is must read. The conclusion is simultaneously eye- popping and utterly predictable. The ‘peace plan’ for Ukraine delivered by the White House seems to have been translated from Russian into English. In other words it’s the Kremlin plan that Trump seems to be passing off as American, and is telling Ukraine it must accept
I uploaded verified images of the “peace” document to Grok. I prompted, “Analyze this document from a logistic perspective. It is in English, but assess whether or not it has been translated. If so, what is the likely language of the original?” 🧵

98% of the adult cares homes closed to protect people from harm were run by for profit companies. And 90% of children's homes. Time to end this absurdity. Core public services should not be cash cows for private equity.

Agree!! Part of my top 5 ‘to do’ for children: 1)Commit to eradicating poverty as per UN report 2)Return to explicit intentions of CAct 1989 3)Put missing money back into CS’s 4)Support p’ship best practice f’work based on relational focus 5)Unlock hidden potential of ‘family’ 👍

If Labour does not see its core mission as trying to improve the lives of some of our poorest children in good economic times or bad, what, then, is it really for? My column on why Reeves must do something significant on child poverty in the budget. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Replying to @Samfr
"But education/work is the real route out of poverty..." You know what makes it easier to do well at school or find a job? Not being hungry and cold!

This 👏 poverty is a political choice - taking action to eradicate it is also a key part of any serious strategy looking to reduce the numbers of children looked after by the state which in turn would save huge amounts of money & resource while improving life chances 🤔🤷‍♂️

The idea that improving benefits "doesn't deal with the root causes of poverty" is one of the most perniciously bad ideas in politics. You know what's cut pensioner poverty in half over the last 25 years? Giving them more money!

🙏I know you know this @yourdcsnotts but remember - the moment you think ‘job done’ that’s when the trouble starts - onwards and upwards - from good to great - always be restless for better ! 👍👏 💪

Btw - I still hold @michaelgove responsible for the deliberate dismantling of children’s services in 2010 - an act of sabotage we are yet to recover from 😡🤬(5/5)
