It may be a good movie, but the bad press has been pretty bad. Pronoun jokes in the trailer and every review mentioning the "your name is cringe, bro" running gag. Plus it's a mostly dead IP that gets cancelled with every attempted revival. Probably time to let it die peacefully.
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE dropped -71% domestically on its second weekend. With a budget of nearly $200M, it is now tracking to become one of biggest box office bombs of all time.

I hear Jared Leto is a great Skeletor, but I don't think he could outshine my man Frank Langella, who single-handedly redeemed the last box-office flop from Masters of the Universe.

Europeans have bizarre ideas about American food, apparently based on the "American" sections in their own grocery stores. This would be like an American saying, "Ah, those Frenchmen and their fries."

Americans in the quotes be like "that food is disgusting, now let me eat my canned chicken and squeezy cheese in peace"

For the record, I have never seen whole canned chicken. It apparently did not sell well, which is why most Americans have never seen it. EZ Cheez exists but is a novelty product eaten occasionally crackers, if at all.

This is a hard truth, but it is a truth: Anime has largely (not entirely, of course) devolved into a parasocial relationship delivery system aimed at lonely men. It might be fine if consumed in moderation, but it has clearly become unhealthy for many.
The problem isn't that they're unrealistic, the problem is that they're mostly shameless girlfriend simulators for lonely guys, rather than any kind of compelling story involving two fleshed out characters. Each one centers around a girl of a different taste getting into a relationship with a tabula rasa protagonist perfect for self inserting. These aren't stories or pieces of entertainment, they're medication. The inverse of the kind of slop Hallmark has made for women over the last few decades.

As an embarrassing data po8nt related to this, I will admit that I first fully realized this when I got married and my interest in anime immediately cratered.

Having rebelled against Christian restrictions on sex, they have ultimately looped back around to "sex is icky."
there's a sex therapist who has a ritual of making out with her husband every night before bed, and so many of the comments on her posts are some version of "but what if he gets turned on and I don't want to have sex" and i need men to understand and prioritize non sexual touch.

I apologize to @WalmartThomist for mocking his insistence that it's immoral to kiss your wife unless you screw her right afterwards because that's at least more sane than this blather.

The old War of the Worlds movie has a brilliant atomic bomb sequence. The mushroom cloud was created in miniature with practical effects, using explosives on top of an empty oil drum. Really worth seeing.
I watched Oppenheimer out of curiosity because I heard Nolan didn't use CGI for the atomic bomb. All movie I waited for that money shot, and instead of bringing out a buxom blonde stripper in a bikini, he brought out this one legged 50 year old midget. I don't even know what the rest of the movie was about. Dudes talking. I just wanted the mother of all explosions. This should have been a Michael Bay film.

One of the nastiest aspects of our current culture is this tendency to wish forced sodomy on prison inmates. Qe are too cowardly to give violent criminals what they deserve, so we fantasize about outsourcing justice to prison gangs.
Replying to @disclosetv
He’s gonna drop the soap in prison

Public hangings are less barbaric and more dignified than this.

A lot of comments on this post prove its point.
The left loves to mock right-wing religious doomsday preachers for confidently claiming to know the date of the Rapture, only to be proven wrong again and again, and those who take action based on these predictions. I agree, it's funny. But the secular left has built its own doomsday religion. Extinction Rebellion, climate catastrophism, and the "Climate Clock" are no less absurd. They all warn of a looming End Times, a short window for some kind of salvation, and even engage in public rituals of repentance while calling out heretics to be shamed and silenced. Some of these True Believers are even behaviorally sterilizing themselves because they believe the future is so doomed that their children will only suffer. This isn't some tiny isolated congregation following a quacky renegade preacher. This is a mainstream political movement.

Plaque removal is not the only purpose of toothpaste. Tartar control, application of fluoride, sensitivity reduction, and breath freshening are their other uses. Also, 49.2% vs. 50.3% does not sound significant.
FYI toothpaste doesn’t do anything One clinical trial actually found less plaque removal when toothpaste was used Just brush your kids’ teeth without toothpaste It’s easier for everyone when their mouths aren’t full of foam

It's funny that when people want to claim that the Bible supports casual foeticide, a ritual curse involving dusty water is all they can come up with.

It is quite possible that miscarriage is not described here. It may be a prolapse. Hebrew is often ambiguous. What this would *actually* produce is the jealous husband's being forced to cease his jealousy. (Unless the prolapse actually occurred, I guess.)

That this ridiculous chart was produced by a tenured medievalist is yet another mark against modern academia. Its mocking tone, obvious exaggerations and lack of nuance or even basic understanding, and overall unprofessionalism should have wrecked its creator's reputation.
A decision tree on when it is permissible to have marital sex according to medieval sources from "Law, Sex, and Christian Society in Medieval Europe" by James A. Brundage (it works out to somewhere around five times a month):

Thomas Astruc cultivated and pandered to this particular audience. Like J. K. Rowling, he deserves what he gets when they turn on him.

Prudes are society's immune system. They may be insufferable, but we should attentively listen to them anyway.
>Harry Potter turns kids into gay demon worshippers People mock Jack Chick but they need to check the scoreboard

One problem I'm not sure Christianity has ever directly dealt with is that there is now plenty of evidence that our ancestors have always reproduced the way we currently do, and no evidence for the supernatural reproduction about which the Fathers speculate.

I don't think sexual ethics can be particularly good or convincing if it starts with, "Imagine sex were completely different" when it is not, in fact, completely different, and there is no evidence it ever was.
