I’m sure that following the #Planet49 case a lot of companies will be reflecting on the legal advise they have received over the years that non-essential ad-related tracking cookies are permitted on the basis of an opt-out or assumed consent. They never were.

The three-part test.
Whilst this is not explicitly set out in the GDPR Article 6(1)(f) does incorporate 3 elements. It's not sufficient to decide that it's in your interest and start processing. You must satisfy all three parts before commencing.
