Normally I'd say "many such cases" but Mansa Musa's Mali was actually unrivalled historically in its wealth. However That amplifies the fact that once again, Islam does not create. It only destroys.
> be mansa musa > the mali tyrant who controlled a gold empire > equivalent to a modern billionaire > owned thousands of slaves at his service > considered the richest african ever > wealth came purely from gold mines > did not build anything that lasted > didn't leave behind anything worth mentioning > mali is still a shithole

Cute theory, let's play it out. A monkey hoards a trillion bananas. The troop, enraged, beats him to death. They gather around the pile to feast at last. But... oh wait, there is no pile. It turns out the "bananas" were shares in a banana-launching company the dead monkey founded. The shares were worth a trillion because he was alive to run it. Now he is dead and the stock is worth $0. The retarded monkeys have clubbed their way into a recession. But it gets worse. Half the "bananas" were tied up in a rocket that supplies bananas to monkeys on the far mountain who had no bananas at all. Another chunk was tied up in a little satellite dish that beamed banana coordinates to the troop after a flood took out their trees. So now they realized they beat to death the only monkey who knew how the dish worked. So the monkeys sit there. No bananas. No rockets. No coordinates to get more banananas. Just a dead body and a powerful sense of fairness as they all now became infinitely poorer. OH And somewhere a smaller monkey watches the whole thing and quietly decides he will never build anything in front of these animals again.
in nature if a monkey hoarded 1 trillion bananas the other monkeys would beat that monkey to death and take his bananas

This. This false equivalency, the hyperbolic accusations of excess, "durrr, median wealth globally" emotionally charged slop. All day these fucking accounts have been so hypocritical it's gotta be a plant. Literally never have these guys cried about the wealth held by Bezos, Zuckerberg, the Krafts, etc etc etc But suddenly they all want to attack the guy who he pays to use his platform, ON his platform? This guy is actively running defense for George Soros, and that's not even supposed to be suspicious???
Elon Musk is the world's first trillionaire. Median wealth per adult globally is about $8,000. That means Elon has 125 million times as much stuff as the median person. Let that sink in. He is consuming 125 million times as much food as the median person. He owns 125 million times the amount of housing. He has 125 miilion times the amount of clothes. Meanwhile children even in the UK are starving, and yet he refuses to hand over food and clothes to them.

This clip of Charles Payne during Obama's second term is really incredible. Well done Charles. In 2010 Obama put the federal government directly in charge of lending money to students. Eliminating private lending made the loans much easier to get, but they were not less expensive. Before Obama took office, outstanding student debt was less than $100 billion. By 2015, outstanding student debt was approximately $800 billion and almost a third of the borrowers were in default. Of course the price of college continued to soar the entire time. This is the best part. Payne predicted that someday the politicians would be promising to forgive student debt as a way to buy votes. He was spot on. There are people like Ro Khanna on this site right now arguing that Elon Musk should be paying down the student debt when it's a problem that politicians created.

Exactly.
Replying to @RoKhanna
I’m glad you’re feeling so generous I heard you’re pretty rich I encourage you to give 90% of it to the government so they can steal your money too

ā€œElon Musk is a trillionaire.ā€ As a securities law attorney, please allow me to explain how anyone who says this is basically lying to you: 1. The Securities and Exchange Commission has a myriad of laws that prevent founders and other large stockholders of publicly traded companies from dumping their shares. There are substantial holding period requirements, volume of sales limitations and public reporting obligations for stock sales. Basically, Elon holds largely illiquid shares, he is a ā€œtrillionaireā€ on paper only, and the best analogy is when people peg your net worth based on your home’s market price. That’s not money in your pocket, that’s the house you live in. 2. All that money raised in the IPO? That’s not going into Elon’s pocket like the lying socialist idiots want you to believe. It’s a capital influx that will be used to make more rockets and get more payloads into orbit. It’s a CAPITAL investment—that money is like a business loan, it’s not your money to keep, it’s your money to grow the business. 3. If it WERE legal for Elon to dump his shares, the share price would crash basically instantly and the company could very well fail. If you bought SpaceX shares in the IPO, congrats. You just bought a lottery ticket, just like Elon. May the odds ever be in your favor. So the next time someone screeches about how unfair it is that Elon Musk creates wealth that benefits all of humanity, throw the truth back in their faces.

The most tone-deaf post I've read today, and it's all been slop.
Americans are struggling to pay for groceries and gas while Elon Musk becomes a TRILLIONAIRE. When the federal government is for sale, the rich get richer and everyone else gets shafted. The system is rigged.

"it's beyond sickening" says the Congresswoman, part of a notoriously tax-evasive group of insider traders and embezzlers, fraud waste and abusers, getting kickbacks from PACs and political lobbyists... Yea sure, I'm listening. Surely you aren't being a massive hypocrite.
It’s beyond sickening that Elon Musk – the world’s first trillionaire – pays a lower effective tax rate than truck drivers, firefighters, or nurses. It’s not complicated – we need to actually TAX THE RICH. nytimes.com/2026/06/12/techn…

Again for those in the back, Elon once offered to cut a check for $6 BILLION to the WFB to "eliminate World hunger" as they said the money could. His one condition was that the accounting was public. They did not accept.
Elon Musk dismantled USAID programs that provided lifesaving assistance to millions of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people. The human cost was enormous, while DOGE’s net fiscal impact was inconsequential. Now, as Musk approaches trillionaire status, he should commit/tithe at least $100 billion to a fund dedicated to combating extreme poverty, hunger, preventable disease, and humanitarian crises worldwide. Money alone cannot undo the damage already done. But if this moment marks an unprecedented personal financial milestone, it should also be an opportunity for an unprecedented act of restitution. Musk has the resources to save and improve countless lives. He should use them.

Maybe using the existing tax income for that would be better for the citizens than anything USAID has done in the last ten years, IDK MAN IM JUST SPITBALLIN HERE
But taxing wealth so normal people can afford to see a doctor and not go bankrupt over inhalers is radical left. OK

Actually, about this: Elon once offered the UN $6 billion for World Hunger in 2021 - on the condition that the UN provided Open Source Accounting and allowed him or anyone else to track and audit exactly where the money was spent on. Which I think is a fair request considering that UN had multiple high-profile embezzlement cases such as what happened in Somalia in 2010 and Ethiopia in recent years. There's even one being actively probed right now in Sudan. UN has not have a good track record of monitoring where other people's money go to, and that's an understatement. The UN's response? They said they would at best, offer summaries and high-level category reports...which is not very helpful. It was also not going to be an open ledger, so no one outside of UN leadership could see where the money would go to. So...the offer fell through because the UN was unable to provide trackable details on where the money goes to, making auditing extremely difficult. The rest is history, which is now being actively memory-holed by you OP. Sure hate Elon that he bought Twitter, at least be fair.
people starving all around the world and this asshole has a trillion dollars btw

Yet another puppet calling for tax as a fix-all solution, instead of economic reform. Ya gotta balance a budget, fix SPENDING.
Reason #1,000,000,000,000 why we should tax the rich.

THANK FUCK SOMEONE GETS IT
ā€œIf Elon Musk wasn’t a trillionaire, we could all afford healthcare.ā€ They fail to understand that Musk didn’t take his wealth from anyone. It didn’t exist before he created it.

Or, something much more likely, Nothing would be different, we would've sent all our money overseas to Israel, African Nations, and elsewhere, and the rest of the money would have been embezzled or otherwise lost to fraud as it currently is now. The problem is SPENDING
If Bernie's 5% annual wealth tax on billionaires had been enacted in 2012, Elon Musk would be worth less than $365 billion instead of the $1.2 trillion that he's worth today. Elon would still be the wealthiest man alive & every family in America would have universal childcare.

Holy keyword soup, this is impressive. "Capitalism is a death cult" goes fuckin hard when you're thinking "death to America" in your parent's house. All of this rhetoric is America-centric. The key pillars of the death cult: the Deaths of Despair, the inequality-driven alienation the age expectancy thresholds, none of them pan out when applied globally. "Yea but China uplifted millions from poverty and they're communist!" Thank you Deng Xiaoping reforms, for introducing Capitalist reforms to a self-described "Socialist with Chinese elements" country. Admittedly NOT communist, it's literally only in the party name. This whole argument is childish trigger words mashed together in a feelings-based argument. Rich take, coming from a Canadian.
A nazi becoming the first trillionaire off taxpayer subsidies mergers and apartheid mine inheritance isn't an anomaly. It's showing you what the system rewards. Capitalism is a death cult

Hmm. So, you want to tax the millionaires? Are you a Millionaire? Estimates say Yes. The issue is SPENDING
Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500. If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.

This is a other low-iq take. The government itself is a "trillionaire". The problem is SPENDING
Brad, a 5% tax on Elon's trillion net worth would literally pay for free college and trade school for every American. And with the market's growth, he still would be worth over a trillion dollars! You don't think that's worth it?
Community note
5% of $1.2T is $60b. 8m students in BA/BS programs on average pay over $20k/yr, or ~$160b/yr for BA/BS degrees only. That tax could not cover even half of only US bachelor degree costs for just 1 year, excluding grad, ass., or trade degrees totaling another ~10m students. nces.ed.gov/programs/coe/i… bestcolleges.com/research/colle…
