All of us within Capital Athletics mourn the loss of Tim Gleason. His impact on the OAC and beyond was profound and immense. He remained one of the most dedicated supporters of our conference since his retirement. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time.
The Ohio Athletic Conference mourns the loss of former Commissioner Tim Gleason. For 30 years (1991-2021), Tim led the OAC with unwavering dedication, becoming the conference's first full-time commissioner and helping shape the future of Division III athletics. His leadership, vision, and commitment to enhancing the student-athlete experience left a lasting impact on the OAC and collegiate athletics nationwide. Tim's legacy lives on through the countless student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and institutions he influenced throughout his distinguished career. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 18, from 4-7 p.m. at Mineral Ridge High School and Friday, June 19, from 10-11:45 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge, followed by the funeral service at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mineral Ridge Scholarship Fund, where a Community Spirit Award will be established in Tim's memory to honor future Mineral Ridge students who exemplify dedication and service to their community. Thank you for your service, leadership, and friendship, Commissioner Gleason. Your impact will never be forgotten. ๐Ÿ’› Read more on oac.org #OAC | #LegacyOfLeadership

Rick Pitino shares the standard he holds every team to - no excuses. ๐Ÿ“Œ"You're not allowed to give excuses. Excuses are a sign of weakness." ๐Ÿ“Œ"We give no excuses when we fail. Failure is just fertilizer to help us grow as a team." "We make no excuses. We say the other team was better that night - but tomorrow we become better than them." Excuses are lies rooted in fear and insecurity. Excuses don't move you forward. Ownership does. Focus on what you can control and own it. Then learn from your past and look to improve and grow. This is what Dominance is,from 1990-1998,MJ never lost more than 2 games in a row.Jordan only lost 1 playoff series when he had atleast 1 allstar teammate.Lebron lost 8 with multiple allstars.Lebron has never dominated Stephs era. Getting swept and losing finals is not dominance.

As a parent, don't try to live out your dreams through your children. Allow them to live their own lives and help them become well-rounded adults. Do what's truly best for their future development and well-being.

Curt Cignetti shares a universal truth about habits and consequences. "In life - you got freedom of choice, but not freedom of consequence." "First you form your habits, then your habits form you." Every choice and action you take compounds. The small decisions you make daily - preparation, work ethic, and how you respond - those become your habits. And over time, those habits become your identity. You're free to choose. But the consequences of those choices aren't optional. Your habits are shaping who you become. (๐ŸŽฅIU Athletics )

Competitive character is not โ€œwanting to win.โ€ Everybody wants to win. Itโ€™s whether your habits get sharper when youโ€™re frustrated. Whether you can take hard coaching without making it personal. Whether you stop negotiating with the standard the second it gets uncomfortable. Pressure doesnโ€™t build character. It audits it.

Nick Saban shares one of the best definitions of discipline and the two questions that determine your success. "Discipline defined: Do what you're supposed to do, when you're supposed to do it, the way it's supposed to get done." "Do the right thing, the right way, the right time, all the time." Then he talks about self-discipline and the two questions to ask yourself: "But I'm talking about self-discipline." "We answer hundreds of questions every day that come down to these 2 things." (1) "Here's something I know I'm supposed to do that I really don't want to do. Can you make yourself do it?" (2) "And then over here - there's something you know you're not supposed to do, but you want to do it. Can you keep yourself from it?" The willpower battle that you fight every day. Self-discipline is choosing what you need over what you want in this moment.. "But we're talking about feeling versus choice." "You're gonna do what you feel like doing or you're gonna choose to do the things you need to do to be successful. And there's a difference in that." To achieve your goals, you need to choose daily discipline over motivation. It means prioritizing your goals and what you want for the temporary discomfort of today.
