ETL vs. ELT: What’s the difference and why should you care? If you’re new to the data world, terms like ETL and ELT can feel a bit intimidating. But the idea behind them is actually simple: it’s about when and where your data is transformed. ▶️ ETL (Extract – Transform – Load): Data is taken from different sources, cleaned and formatted, and then stored in a Data Warehouse. This is the classic approach used in many traditional systems. ▶️ ELT (Extract – Load – Transform): Here, raw data is stored first and the transformation happens later, directly inside the powerful analytics engine. This approach is especially common with cloud platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake or Databricks. For a company's Business Intelligence, the choice between ETL and ELT depends on several factors: the amount of data to be processed, the technical infrastructure in place, the tools that are available (such as Pentaho, Talend, Apache NiFi or dbt), as well as the business and analytical objectives that the integration needs to support. ⚡️ So why is this important for you? Because these processes are at the heart of modern Data Engineering. Knowing how to build and optimize data pipelines is one of the key skills that makes you valuable in today’s job market. That’s exactly why we offer our ETL Developer training at @DataScientestDE. It’s designed to give you hands-on experience with the tools and methods companies are looking for, so you can turn theory into practice and boost your career in data. Curious? 👋 Please join us in welcoming Alexander to the DataScientest Germany team! Originally from Baden-Baden, Alexander joined us in mid-September as a Business Development Intern and has already brought great enthusiasm (and impressive language skills: German, Russian, English, and Spanish!) to the team. When he’s not exploring new business opportunities, you’ll probably find him travelling, swimming, or making music. And fun fact: he has never lost a fight against a grizzly bear. 🐻💪 Welcome to the team, Alexander — we’re excited to have you on board! #DataScientest #Team #BusinessDevelopment #Welcome #NewTalent

“One of the best decisions I’ve made for my career.” That’s how Sebastian Pérez Bahamonde, one of our recent alumni, described his experience with the Machine Learning Engineer bootcamp at @DataScientestDE. From building a movie recommendation system to deploying a weather forecasting model with MLOps – this journey combined technical depth with real-world application. We’re proud to share his story 👇 "Joining one of the DataScientest bootcamps was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my career. I completed the first part of the bootcamp, which was focused on data science, learning Python, statistics, and core machine learning algorithms. The second part introduced me to MLOps, where I learned about machine learning operations, model monitoring with MLflow, and practical deployment workflows. By the end of the program, I had completed the full machine learning engineering path, gaining a comprehensive skill set in both building and operationalizing machine learning models. What I really appreciated was the project-based approach. The first project involved building a movie recommendation system, which was a fun and practical way to apply the concepts I had learned. The second project focused on machine learning operations for a weather forecasting system, giving me hands-on experience with real-life, complex workflows. These projects were challenging but incredibly rewarding, as they allowed me to see the direct impact of my work. The bootcamp was intense, and it required creating a routine, waking up early and dedicating focused time, but passing each module felt truly satisfying. A big part of my success came from the strong support network: my peers on the Slack channel, the DataScientest team such as the 1-1 videocalls which provided me with guidance whenever I needed it, as well as the teachers. Personally, this experience has motivated me to continue learning and to integrate these new skills into my current career. I feel confident stepping into data science and machine learning projects and excited about the opportunities ahead." - Sebastian Pérez Bahamonde, Machine Learning Engineer

A career in Data & Tech pays off! If you’re just starting out or thinking about a career change, here’s some good news: 👉 Entry-level roles in the data industry already start well above the German average salary. For example: as a DevOps Engineer, even without previous experience, you can expect around €60,500 / year – not even including bonuses or benefits. 👉 Within just a few years, salaries grow significantly. A Data Scientist with 4-6 years of experience earns on average €71,500 / year, a growth of more than 30% compared to starting out. (source: @Glassdoor) To put this into perspective: across the German economy as a whole, average wage growth is around 2-3% per year (source: FocusEconomics). ➡️ In the data industry, the experience premium is much higher: with around 5 years of experience, professionals earn on average already 30% more than at entry-level. What makes these roles so interesting? They’re well-paid, yes. But they’re also in high demand and future-proof. Skills in Data Sciences, AI, and Big Data are needed in every industry, from finance to healthcare to mobility. At @DataScientestDE, we help learners build the expertise to access these opportunities, no matter whether as career changers or beginners in the field. Our team will be happy to individually guide you onto your new career path. 👉 Schedule a meeting through the link in the comments! #DataCareers #SalaryGrowth #Upskilling #CareerChange #DataJobs #GermanJobMarket

Machine Learning vs. Deep Learning - do you know the difference? Both terms are often used interchangeably, but they’re not the same. 🤖 Machine Learning refers to algorithms that learn from data without being explicitly programmed. For example: predicting whether an email is spam by analyzing hundreds of examples. 🤖 Deep Learning, as Alexandra Boukhtouche from our teaching team explains in the video below, is a branch of ML that uses neural networks inspired by the human brain. It’s especially powerful when huge volumes of data are involved. Curious to dive deeper into these technologies? At DataScientest, we train you to work with both.

Summer vibes at the Paris office: Many colleagues are off at the beach, a few are holding down the fort, the fridge is… let’s say "developing character" and things slow down just enough to try something fun. So, we ran a quick survey: How many languages does our DataScientest team speak? The result surprised us: just 24 colleagues already cover 12 different languages! Including Albanian, Malagasy, and Chechen, to name just a few. It is precisely this variety of voices and viewpoints that make our team so unique and enable us to create innovative training experiences. We bring together different ideas, perspectives, and stories. And when we need one common language? There’s always data. 💡 #team

Why Data Analysis is Transforming Marketing Marketing is no longer just about creativity, it’s about making decisions backed by data. Today’s consumers expect personalized experiences, yet at the same time they are more aware of how their data is being used. Striking the right balance between personalization and privacy has become one of the biggest challenges for companies. In our latest blog article, we explore recent studies showing that: - 81% of consumers ignore irrelevant marketing messages - 96% are more likely to purchase when communication feels personalized - Yet only 33% trust companies to use their data responsibly ➡️ Check out the full article: hubs.ly/Q03Dl_6Y0 This is where data expertise makes the difference. Being able to analyze, interpret, and apply marketing data responsibly is what allows brands to build trust while driving growth. At @DataScientestDE, we prepare professionals for exactly this challenge. Our Data Marketing & AI course (starting this September) equips you with the skills to use data and AI to optimize campaigns, improve customer experiences, and automate processes. 💡 Special opportunity: You can also combine this course with our Data Analyst training, building an even stronger profile for a career at the intersection of data and marketing. Ready to take your marketing strategy to the next level? 🚀
