Imagine 2 frogs heating in a pot of water. Frog 1 says, let's jump out. Frog 2 says, let's collect data and build analytic tools to facilitate proper alignment of market incentives on "hot water risk." I'm with frog 1. @StopMoneyPipe @Insure_Future @350 @RAN @Public_Citizen

The gently sloping line at the bottom is our world 252 million years ago, when temperatures increased by 8C across 60,000 years killing 90% of all species. It is a period known as The Great Dying. That vertical red line is the world our children live in.

There’s a thing out there called a “climate husher.” Anyone who cares about what fossil fuel pollution is doing to Earth’s natural systems needs to ignore these so-called “climate hushers” – people who think Dems should stop talking about climate.

I've seen strong critiques of the @mattyglesias op ed, most notably @SeanCasten's. Another point worth making: The whole essay hinges on the failure to take climate change seriously. Thread:

5. Fortunately, climate is not a political loser, as others have shown. But let's assume it is. In that case, the question is how to make it a winner, or how to make progress anyway -- not how to rationalize burning more fossil fuels and destroying everything we love.

6. @mattyglesias: You sound like you don't take climate change seriously at all. Please dig into the science and start showing you know it. I'll be surprised if you think we shouldn't be alarmed. But if so, let's have that debate directly. /end

This Yglesias piece in the NYT is really bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: nytimes.com/2025/12/18/opini…

Big Oil has known for over 50 years that burning fossil fuels would cause "globally catastrophic harms." Those are their own words. And yet they kept burning. Listen to @David_Arkush testify in front of Senate Judiciary on Big Oil's complicity in the climate crisis:
