And thats exactly the sign Jesus pointed to: “But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves a sign; and so no sign will be given to it except the SIGN OF JONAH the prophet; For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” (Matt 12:39-40) Jesus didnt say “as Jonah lived in the fish…” He pointed to Jonahs death and resurrection as a sign of His own. Jonah died. God raised him. Jesus died. God raised Him. Thats the parallel…not a three day aquarium stay. The sign of Jonah isnt survival. Its resurrection. Full stop.
