The decision to open the first negotiating cluster on Ukraine’s and Moldova’s accession to the EU is a recognition of our resilience and of the irreversible nature of our European choice. It is also, among other things, a matter of security and of building a European security space.
We are beginning to lay the foundation for our European life – justice, freedom, and fundamental rights. This is the framework that will make us part of a united, strong, and protected European space.
The EU is a strong economy. And close economic ties among its members strengthen Europe’s mutual interest and unity.
We have proven our ability to fight for independence. Now we are proving our ability to integrate into a space where freedom and human life are valued.
Difficult and challenging negotiations lie ahead. And at every stage, we will need both to change ourselves for the better and, at the same time, to defend our national interests. We must walk this path in order to become even stronger and to be full-fledged actors in the European community.
After all, victory is forged not only on the battlefield, but also through systemic decisions that change history.
We are moving forward.
Glory to Ukraine!
