Development is NOT LINEAR. It is Non-Linear. Players go on a journey with their learning experience and will display consistency and inconsistency in performance adaptations
Instead of working in 'blocks' where we're heavily loading work under the assumption it will be better retained, which can often treat players as these 'computers' we're attempting to download information into which later is forgotten, how can we design meaningful, personalised and connected learning experiences that compound over time.
By designing a cyclical approach to our work, we're able to focus more on "DEPTH" vs "BREADTH", by establishing a deeper understanding and mastery of concepts
With a Spiral Curriculum, the player(s) are able to return to the same core game ideas, principles and situations but in new contexts, and at different, higher and challenging speeds, whilst considering the nuanced journey of the individual.
Throughout this thread I will share my adapted Spiral Curriculum and unpack the concept further as well as how I link in an ecological dynamics rational and constraints led approach within a model/framework
