Delighted to have played our part in this. Without @frank_oconnor and @judesherry this would not be happening and delinquent owners would still be calling the shots. This is real people power. @MrBoxofTricks @anntmcveigh @BobbyMc2014 @upstatetheatre
Have no doubt this is down to me, @judesherry & #DerelictIreland community, we've been told so repeatedly by politicians, civil servants & media that it wouldn’t have happened otherwise, we campaigned for this from outset, so great to see it happening, obviously devil in detail🤞

A roofless Georgian shell, slated for demolition in 2007 — refused. Now reinstated as homes. Proof that protected ≠ lost. 🏚️🏦 The Moy pub on Dorset Street was demolished around 2018–2019. Next door, No. 12 Dorset Street Upper is a protected structure traditionally linked with Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s birthplace. It stood roofless for decades after its top two floors were removed in the 1980s. A 2007 proposal to demolish Nos. 12–13 for apartments was refused on appeal. The site was later redeveloped (c. 2021) as “12–13 Dorset Street Upper”, reinstating No. 12 and building a matching No. 13 to provide 9 apartments, resolving the dereliction. Below is a webpage I built to highlight dereliction in Ireland, propose solutions, and showcase heritage buildings and structures at risk. 📍 Survey Research Details: derelictsites.com/2330-12-Do… #Dublin #Ireland #Heritage #HeritageAtRisk #BuiltHeritage

The excessive #RedTape is a problem that has been plaguing the Voluntary Sector for a long time now. This has been exacerbated by those in @GovIE failing to listening to voices within the #Community. tinyurl.com/39y2h6b2

Dereliction is a social crime We need compulsory sales (derelict) & compulsory rental (vacant) so everyone can have a home #DerelictIreland #RestPlayWork

That's a really lovely impression to leave for tourists who visit this prosperous and green island of ours. 🤔
Dereliction and vacancy along the Luas Lines.🏚️🚊 In the midst of a housing crisis, a record 17,548 people are accessing state-funded emergency accommodation across Ireland, including 11,944 adults and 5,604 children. The country is literally full of these empty properties!
BUILDING AT RISK: 39a Main Street, Chapelizod, Dublin 20.🏚️⚠️ This early-1800s three-storey terraced house — a Protected Structure (RPS 4847) in the heart of Chapelizod's conservation area, between the Phoenix Park & the Liffey — has stood vacant & derelict for 20 years. Once a butcher's shop (and possibly a school), it retains its rough-dash render and original sash windows. Now Dublin City Council-owned via sealed vesting order (Feb 2024) and on the Derelict Sites Register (DS1380). 📍 Details: derelictsites.com/4847-39a-M… #HousingCrisis #DerelictIreland #VacantIreland #Chapelizod #Dublin #Ireland #HeritageAtRisk #BuildingAtRisk

A river of dereliction and vacancy runs through it. The same could be said for many buildings across the country, none more so than Donaghy's Mill in Drogheda. An incredible piece of architectural heritage in the @AnTaisce top ten at risk buildings. Currently in the hands of the No.1 delinquent owner in the area.
Former Odlums Mill Kennedy Quay, Port Of Cork Perfect example of how a building rots, while there is repeated plans but no action or preventative measures This is important industrial heritage From an area which has already lost way too much & with many more properties in danger

Another case of an absolute abdication of responsibility by everyone concerned. The country is littered with similar monuments to greed. We really need to do better. The ‘Taj Mahal of dereliction’: A ghost estate on the outskirts of Castlebar. irishtimes.com/ireland/housi…

How many similar properties around the country are owned by the same types? No class, no idea of the value of heritage, but €2 an hour for dumping your car really gets their juices flowing.
Who needs a historic gate house as a home when instead you can have decay, dereliction & another car park Sundays Well, Cork City #DerelictIreland

At long last @louthcoco have slapped a CPO on this property on Boyne Terrace. This is the second time around for this site so with luck we will see this beautiful period property restored and brought back into use. Shame on the owner for allowing it to get to this stage...AGAIN.

Only in Ireland. 'Too derelict'! 😡
Properties deemed "too derelict" to get planning permission in the midst of Housing Crisis?😡 According to the most recent data published by the Department of Housing, there are 96 adults registered in emergency homeless accommodation in County Tipperary. This represents a 31.5% increase in local homelessness over a 12-month period. independent.ie/regionals/tip… #DerelictIreland #HousingCrisis #Tipperary

How can councils end #DerelictIreland? Enforce the Derelict Sites Register & follow the steps we outline in the image As it happens councils have been tasked with this responsibility since 1990; its been a major failure

Every single local authority could easily do this if they enforced the Derelict Sites legislation and bothered to collect the levies due. The revenue would more than justify the cost. This is not heresay. It is based on evidence. @RobCross247
Local authority, @DubCityCouncil is on track to more than treble the number of staff working in its #DerelictIreland sites unit by the end of this year. They have added three additional staff in the last several weeks, with four more staff to be added. tinyurl.com/4vte6k5n
