Maybe, instead of National Service for 18 year olds they should introduce national service for MPs. They all have to do several weeks volunteering in a school, GP, hospital, care home, social care and police within their first 12 months in office.

Politicising sex education is unforgivable dangerous & reactionary. It’s always *age appropriate* to give young people skills to stay safe. For younger ones that means teaching about respect & healthy relationships. This is worst kind of arm-chair politics bigoted & ill-informed

The assault on Rafah is another utterly despicable war crime. As bombs rain down on a trapped and terrified population, we implore our government to find an ounce of humanity and end its complicity in this senseless massacre. Wake up. This is not war. This is genocide.

The Rwanda Bill is a disgusting piece of legislation designed to demonise the world's most vulnerable people. This government has done everything it can to make the lives of refugees even harder. What a sorry and shameful legacy to leave behind.

I try not to be angry about this all the time, but 4.5 years ago we had the opportunity to vote for a different reality, where public services were going to be funded better and things were going to be nationalised and affordable and the entire media class destroyed it

🗣️ Almost two thirds of people in destitution live with a chronic health condition or disability. Cutting people’s eligibility for benefits won't help. The PM's speech was an irresponsible war of words on people who already aren’t getting enough support. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-6….

I’m happy my tax money is used to provide financial support to those who are too unwell to work. I’m also more than happy to pay taxes on the premise that if I’m one of the unlucky ones who can’t work due to ill health I will be financially supported It’s called civilisation

Nearly 300 years ago, the first Black performer to play Juliet was Rachael Baptiste, an Irishwoman also hugely successful as a singer. She performed in Lancashire in the mid-1700s.

Creative Industries make up 6% of our economy. That’s more than car and oil industries together. They employ 2.3million people. To cut funding for creative arts at university level is fudge-brained, cack-hearted thinking pitched very much at the highest level of economic self-harm. theguardian.com/education/20…
