Hi, #WritersOfTwitter! I’m a writer and editor who adores all types of kidlit and sci-fi. I also connect MG and YA writers with teen beta readers (though we are quite booked at the moment). Lovely to meet (and remeet) you!
can we bring back #WritersOfTwitter again? i would love to meet some new writer friends (& hype up the ones i’m lucky to know already) so go ahead and (re)introduce yourself! 👀💕

Meet Lola, #StetPet editorial assistant of Boise Guild member @DetailedDraft. "Trusty goofball Lola growls when she’s happy and gives the best extended greetings. She can spot the tiniest crumb on the floor like an editor can spot an italicized period."

It’s the exact perfect hot week for this snowy editing project ❄️ Don’t hesitate to book edits for wintery manuscripts in summer! Your editor might thank you extra.

Thought I was going to vote in the Crystal Kite Awards, but I ended up just building a huge list of library holds from all the gorgeous entries. #SCBWI

Tip from a teen beta reader: Most kids don’t use the term “cell phone” because in their lifetime they haven’t had to distinguish between a landline and a mobile phone. They just say “phone.”

SCBWI is hosting a virtual event tomorrow (4/11) featuring iconic children’s book thought leaders. Last year’s event was so outstanding I streamed the second half from the car! Completely free and no membership necessary. #KidLit #WritingCommunity #SCBWI scbwi.org/changemakers-speci…

This is worth repeating. When I look up agent sales history for clients, it’s often surprising how many agents have different genres on their MSWL from what they have sold. Query widely! #amquerying

6/13 After 2 years I felt ready to query, so I drafted my letter using the “hook, book, & cook” approach. Then I asked tons of folks in the #kidlit #writingcommunity for feedback. I’m especially grateful for the help and encouragement of Kristin @DetailedDraft. 🩷

Replying to @LTimoneyWrites
I promise most copy editors just assume the writer was focused on the story, and we happily geek out over the details for you.

Fellow #amwriting #amquerying MG/YA writers: I can't say enough good things about @DetailedDraft. My query is 1000% stronger, and the teen beta reader service is invaluable! The prices are very affordable. If you are looking for quality feedback, definitely check it out!

I seriously would have given up if I hadn't found so many amazing folks like @DetailedDraft, @joelbrigham from #REVPIT, my PB CP group from @KIDLIT411, my MG CP group from @julieartz's #CPMeetCute, and so many more generous & supportive authors & editors in the #kidlit community!
I made a thread on advice for debut authors, but honestly the most important thing: MAKE FRIENDS Form genuine connections with other authors & cheer each other on. Friends are the only reason I made it through debut year with a semblance of sanity. It makes allll the difference
