I had productive discussions with Bill Gates this afternoon in Brussels, ahead of the #Gavi Vaccine Alliance pledging session. Our discussion focused on Ghana’s vital interventions in the health sector. We covered key topics, including the significant progress on the Free Primary Healthcare programme, the ongoing work of the National Vaccine Institute, and the impact of uncapping the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIS) to improve healthcare access and financing. I also thanked Mr. Gates and the Gates Foundation for their extensive philanthropic work in Ghana and their crucial contribution to the Gavi Vaccine Alliance. I also met with the Gavi Board Chair, José Manuel Barroso, who expressed gratitude for my consistent support for Gavi’s vital vaccine replenishment efforts. Supporting an organisation that is doing such crucial work for global health is always a pleasure. These meetings underscore the importance of international collaboration and sustained investment in health systems to build a healthier future for all. Looking forward to the pledging session and advocating for continued support for Gavi’s life-saving work. #Gavi #VaccinesWork #GhanaHealth #MahamaThePresident

🛡️Is your org truly safe for everyone? At our Internal Seminar Series, we learned that safeguarding must go beyond policy — it must shape organisational culture. Threats to safeguarding hides in silence & it’s everyone’s responsible in fighting it. #Safeguarding #ZeroTolerance

With immediate effect, Ghanaians will no longer require traditional visas to travel to Morocco. An online authorization which will be granted within 24-hours without embassy appointments is all that’s needed. This is one of the significant agreements reached yesterday with the Foreign Minister of Morocco, H.E. Nasser Bourita on my 2-day working visit. With existing direct flights which would be increased following this new agreement, we expect this bilateral visa waiver policy to greatly facilitate trade, tourism and deepen people to people engagements between both countries. The borders in Africa must not be allowed to divide us — they can be bridges of connectivity. Diplomacy must make meaningful impact in the lives of the people we serve. I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters a happy Eid.
