Thrilled to have our article published in the @AJRCMB! @AvishaiShemesh and our @UCSF team found increased soluble NK cell ligand was associated with decreased cognate NK receptor and improved lung transplant outcomes. doi.org/10.1093/ajrcmb/aanag…

With a 96-inch wingspan and the uncanny ability — at a height of 7’4” — to not just dunk the ball but also hit 3-pointers, “Wemby” (Victor Wembanyama) of the San Antonio @Spurs, is widely rumored to be a space Alien. I am not authorized to comment further.

Presented at #ATS2026: Among patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, inhaled treprostinil led to a smaller decline in forced vital capacity than placebo over 52 weeks. Cough and drug discontinuation were more common with treprostinil. Full results of the phase 3 TETON-1 and TETON-2 trials: nej.md/3PeZwZG @atscommunity

More than a decade of NIH-funded work from the lab of UCSF's Kevan Shokat led up to this breakthrough. He found a way to create drugs against a mutation that appears in 20% of all cancers, including pancreatic, colon, and lung.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most dire diagnoses in medicine with few available treatments. Until now, thanks to university research, including @UCSF scientists, and federal investment in science research. Read about this huge breakthrough via @nytimes nyti.ms/4wfziXs

Dr. Aaron Baugh, a Black pulmonologist in California, believed that using race-correction in lung-function tests was a way to reduce health inequities. That was until he ran the numbers himself. Shocked by the results, he began to study the harmful effects of race correction on Black patients with lung disease. Part two of 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙀𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 uncovers the racist myths that led to today’s lung-function testing with Harvard historian of science Evelynn Hammonds and Brown professor Lundy Braun. Why is the race-corrected interpretation of spirometer test results still used by a majority of U.S. hospitals, when scientists have documented that the practice is harming patients?
