KEEP THE POLICE OUT OF SCHOOLS AND KEEP THEM ON THE STREETS, x.com/i/status/2065780259035…

Doug Ford’s @OntarioPCParty government are firing thousands of Teachers and Educational Assistants across Ontario, claiming there’s no money for education. Meanwhile, they’re spending $41 million dollars to put police constables in schools.

Ontario has the same problem. “There’s no money for education.” But there’s money for police in schools. Money for a private spa. Money for Highway 413. Money for a tunnel under the 401. Meanwhile, teachers are still reaching into their own pockets to help stock their classrooms. Ontario doesn’t have a money problem. It has a priorities problem. 🍎📚🏫

Let's not forget that @PaulCalandra forced many schools to shutter their school libraries because HE refuses to fund them. #hypocrite
There’s something special about walking into a Scholastic Book Fair. The excitement of finding the perfect book never gets old. Visiting Nokiidaa Public School brought back memories of circling wish-list books. Some things haven’t changed and neither has the power of a good book.

In the past five years, I’ve seen a sharp rise in students struggling with foundational school skills: -Legible handwriting -Bringing basic supplies -Following verbal directions -Spelling & punctuation -Reading & writing stamina Ignoring these deficits in the name of "rigor" only exacerbates existing learning gaps.

For those claiming "who cares - there is no election until 2029, earliest", just wait for the fall when teachers, students, parents and the majority of Ontarians join together in solidarity against Ford's increasing cuts to #onted. #onpoli
#BREAKING — but not surprising: Doug Ford's approval rating fell 10 points to just 21%. In the last few weeks, we put forward real plans to lower grocery costs: ✅Remove the tax on groceries ✅Ban surveillance pricing ✅Stop grocery giants from blocking competition Doug Ford voted them down. Then he bought a $30M jet, changed the law to hide his phone records, sold out Toronto’s waterfront to American billionaires, and took a 21-week vacation. When you vote against relief and choose yourself and insiders instead, people notice.

Funding cuts have decreased the numbers of all other adults in the building, but there’s always money to add police.

Oh for fuck sakes. Doug Ford. Ontario doesn’t need cops in schools, we need smaller classrooms, more Teachers and support staff. Not cops.

Rohit Gupta, @PaulCalandra personal friend & supervisor at the TDSB refused to anwser questions from parents on the budget, drastic cuts to staff & valuable programs. Let's NOT forget he has NO education experience but was a failed Metrolinx employee who was fired.
Tensions ran high & frustrations were palpable at a TDSB parent budget meeting Tuesday night, where parents pressed for answers on hundreds of staff cuts and program reductions planned for this fall. But the Ford government-appointed TDSB Supervisor didn’t answer questions during the meeting & declined an interview with me afterward. Watch:

Paul Calandra’s highest‑profile dining month shows about $1,700 in restaurant bills at the Queen’s Park dining room yet your child's school can't afford a lunch lady @20k/year. The school has 5 vending machines b/c there's a kickback for junk food.

The Ford government is escalating its fight to cancel all summer meetings of the committee responsible for vetting PC appointees to provincial agencies & boards, now taking the dispute to the Speaker. Critics say it’s “astonishing the lengths they’ll go to not be held accountable.” But the government argues historically, this committee has never met during breaks.

$198 million could hire thousands of frontline education workers. Instead, students are dealing with larger classes, fewer supports, increased violence, and growing mental health needs. Ontario doesn’t have a funding problem. It has a priorities problem. #onpoli #osstf

Lmfao 🤣. As a Toronto school custodian I along with my union brothers and sisters have asked every year for schools to be air conditioned. And every time we’re told it’s too expensive! Besides staff & students complain about for a couple weeks, try 2 months working in the summer

If you weren't there you don't know how big these Taster's Choice commercials were in the early 90s. It was so exciting when another 30/45 second episode would drop. RIP Anthony Head. 💔

Contrast Ontario teachers' salary raises between 2012 and 2026 and those of MPPs and the Premier. MPP Base Salary: Rose from $116,550 in 2012 to $163,959 by 2026, representing a 40.7% increase. Premier's Salary: Rose from $209,272 in 2012 to $293,978 by 2026, representing a 40.3% increase.
It's that time of year again. There will be lots of misinformation circulating about teachers. Here's the truth about teacher raises and strikes in Ontario. Please share as needed.
