Killed in Mob Attack at DTB Bank Ntinda ( @dtb_uganda ) It’s alleged that, this young man, lost his life on Monday following a mob attack at DTB Bank in Ntinda, according to accounts from witnesses, he had gone to the bank to withdraw money, after completing the transaction, a dispute reportedly arose when the bank manager accused him of having previously obtained money from him through fraud some months back & instructed security guards to stop him from moving out as he attempted to leave the bank premises, a confrontation came up, boda boda riders in the area allegedly mistook the situation for maybe bank gun point robbers & descended on him, subjecting him to a severe beating It’s said that, customers who were present at the bank intervened & rescued him from the mob before taking him back into the bank, @PoliceUg were later called to the scene but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries before he reached police station for statement no one deserves to lose their life at the hands of a mob, allegations should be investigated by the police & courts, not decided through violence. The Ministry of Health led by Permanent Secretary, Dr. @DianaAtwine convened a meeting of Ambassadors, Heads of Missions and Development Partners, this morning, to brief them on Ebola, emphasize following one plan, one budget and one Monitoring and Evaluation framework. Dr. @DianaAtwine called for mutual accountability, transparency and clarity to Government. She expressed Uganda’s availability to support DRC with technical experience in reducing transmission to reduce the loss of lives due to Ebola. Dr. Atwine emphasized that “Uganda will never export #Ebola; that is our commitment and pledge. We must support our neighbors in putting up systems” Following a detailed technical outlook of the ongoing response, the heads of missions commended Government’s transparency and quality of response. As of today, Uganda has no local transmission of Ebola. The country is safe. #MOHatWork | #FightEbolaUG26

I have had serious concerns about the Work of the World Health Organization(WHO) since its spectacular mismanagement of the COVID response. Their response to the current Ebola response has confirmed my concerns . Although WHO is obliged under the International Health Regulations(IHR) to report about public health outbreaks of international concern but that reporting must be factual not disguised fundraising efforts. The following should be the basis of WHO reporting basis and non applies to Uganda. -Laboratory confirmed cases, urban spread, massive cross cross border transmission and epidemiological studies. Unfortunately WHO recklessness reporting which has been amplified by biased media reporting has the the potential to damage tourism and investment. For days there has been no Ebola reported in Uganda. We thank our all our partners who are supporting Uganda's response effort and the support should be transparent unlike the days of USAID when implementing agencies picked most of the money.
