One of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received. As Chloe Jedwood completed her master’s training in our lab and prepares for her move to Boston, she surprised me with this framed, satirical Neurosurgical Focus article: “Longitudinal Outcomes of having the best Principal Investigator: A Case report with Gratitude.” One of the greatest privileges in academic medicine is watching talented trainees grow into physicians, scientists, and leaders. Chloe, thank you for your hard work and this unique reminder of why mentorship matters. Publications fade, titles change, and careers evolve. The greatest investment is in people. #Mentorship #Gratitude #AcademicMedicine #MedicalEducation #Neurosurgery #medtwitter Disclaimer: This article is a satirical gift and not an actual publication. It was not published or reviewed by Neurosurgical Focus, the JNS, or the JNSPG.

The future of neurosurgery is being written now. As Editor of Neurosurgical Focus, I am thrilled to announce calls for papers on two rapidly advancing areas of our specialty: 🧠 Epilepsy: Emerging and Transformative Surgical Therapies Topic Editor: Dr. Edward Chang (@NeurosurgUCSF ) 🧠 Frontiers in Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Topic Editor: Dr. Paul Gardner (@NYUneurosurgery) These fields are evolving at an extraordinary pace through advances in technology, surgical innovation, neuroscience, and multidisciplinary care. We look forward to highlighting the discoveries, techniques, and transformative ideas that continue to redefine what is possible for our patients. I encourage investigators, innovators, and thought leaders from around the world to submit their best work and help shape the future of neurosurgery. #NeurosurgicalFocus #Neurosurgery #Epilepsy #SkullBaseSurgery #Endoscopy #BrainSurgery #Neuroscience #Medicine #Research @TheJNS

Our new study in @PLOSONE on minimally-invasive resection of deep-seated subcortical intraventricular lesions using the Aurora Surgiscope integrated camera-port system. This retrospective series included 25 patients mostly accessing: 🧠 Colloid cysts, Brain metastases, Gliomas/ependymomas, ICH, other subcortical/intraventricular lesions Key findings: • Mean lesion depth: 3.5 cm • Gross total resection -> 70.6% of intended resections • Median operative time: 2.4 hours Our experience demonstrates the feasibility, versatility, and safety of integrated visualization illumination technology for minimally-invasive access to deep brain pathology. Proud of this collaborative team effort advancing modern neurosurgical techniques and patient care. This May, during Brain Tumor Awareness Month, we were incredibly honored to be welcomed by the students, families, and faculty of Mayfield Junior School for a special Reach Out Assembly benefiting the USC Brain Tumor Center at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and many other non profit organizations 💙 We are deeply grateful for the generosity, compassion, and advocacy shown by this community in support of causes that are close to the hearts of the 8th grade class. A very special thank you to Ruby, the daughter of a USC BTC patient and Advisory Board member, whose courage and dedication to raising awareness inspired this meaningful effort. Your voice, leadership, and heart made a lasting impact, and we are so thankful for your support of our mission. This past Saturday, the USC Brain Tumor Center was proud to participate in the National Brain Tumor Society 5K, standing alongside patients, survivors, caregivers, families, advocates, clinicians, and researchers in support of the brain tumor community. We were especially honored that Frances Chow, MD, and Gabriel Zada, MD, were selected to deliver the welcome remarks, helping open the event with a message of hope, collaboration, and shared purpose. Our sponsorship of this meaningful event reflects the USC Brain Tumor Center’s continued commitment to advancing brain tumor research, expanding awareness, and supporting patients and families beyond the walls of the hospital. Being present at events like this is an important reminder that progress is made not only through science and clinical care, but also through community, advocacy, and the collective determination to improve outcomes for all those affected by brain tumors. #braincancerawareness #braintumorawarenessmonth #gograyinmay #community #hopeinaction

Excited to share our new JNS publication: Adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma outcomes from a US multicenter RAPID registry cohort. 359 patients across high-volume pituitary centers. Key message: ACP remains surgically and endocrinologically challenging. Extent of resection, tumor size, and extension pattern were associated with progression-free survival. Grateful to all RAPID collaborators. thejns.org/doi/abs/10.3171/2… #Neurosurgery #SkullBase #PituitarySurgery #Craniopharyngioma
