When Warcraft 3 Reforged initially came out, Blizzard made it LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE to play the original game through their platform. It just got replaced with Reforged, which you couldn't play if you didn't buy it.
The only way to play Frozen Throne at that point was pirating it
