You see a million shocking things here everyday without warning and you eventually get desensitised to them. But the video of that woman thrown to her death by accident in Brazil broke through my defences. I was desperately, desperately hoping it was AI.

This is absolutely phenomenal---an incredibly wide-ranging conversation surfacing deep questions about democracy, politics, culture, and so much more. I loved it!
Tyler Cowen's pod (@cowenconvos) has been called 'a masterclass in curiosity'. He certainly kept me on my toes: nudism under communism, rewriting the Treaty of Versailles, German feelings regarding Hitler's accent and much more 🤯 Watch here 👇 youtu.be/pziNQu9Ltxs?si=pCFC…

Finished Seb Mallaby’s Infinity Machine and the sheer scale of what has happened in the last 4yrs is disorienting. I started using ChatGPT within a couple of weeks of it launching to the public but so much of what has happened since then has been a blur. Everything that came out in the first year is now entirely obsolete.

If the average American (who understands baseball) struggles to wrap their head around a trillion, it reinforces my view that Nigeria (and other developing countries) should regularly lop off zeroes from their currency to stay within billions. What does a N68trillion budget mean to any Nigerian?
Elon Musk is officially the world’s first trillionaire after SpaceX went public. $1 trillion is such a large number and so far beyond the human imagination that we can’t wrap our minds around it. So let’s make it possible—by stacking pennies. Read more: on.wsj.com/3QFJF6W

Lately been sitting next to a guy on my train journey. Every morning he opens up his laptop, fires up VS Code and for the entirety of the 45min journey, writes lines and lines of code by hand. No autocomplete, no AI. Every line typed out by hand. If this all turns out to have been a mistake, this guy is going to end up a trillionaire when everyone else’s skill has atrophied and he’s the only one left who can write code

Fun piece. Argues that when it comes to being rich in America, you really don’t want to be maxxing. Get rich slowly, stop at around $10m. The benefits and privileges you get are the same as for billionaires and no one knows who you are so your name is never going to become a swear word

That German dude discovering America is incredibly entertaining. I don’t think his life is ever going to be the same again

Really good explanation. You know it's a scam; this shows how it works.
What are the Nigel Farage ads? They're nothing do with Farage. Or even UK politics. The ad is just designed to get you to click. They are 'dynamic' and the advertisers will be running multiple different versions (Martin Lewis, Stacey Solomon, etc).

Just think if Prescott had punched that farmer in Rhyl 25 years later all of us would just have assumed it was just a fake AI crypto advert.
