After facing brain cancer and life-altering challenges, Sarah discovered more than support—she found community, resilience, and renewed meaning at Wellspring Alberta. Now, as a Community Connector in Medicine Hat, she’s helping launch in-person programs that bring healing and connection to others in rural Alberta.
“Rural communities often have little to no in-person cancer support or resources, and Medicine Hat was no exception. From the minute I began volunteering as a Wellspring Community Connector, I heard that sentiment repeatedly—individuals desperately needed that in-person connection to lessen their feelings of isolation. It was from there that, together with community partners, local funding, and volunteers, Wellspring brought the vitally important in-person Cancer Connect program to our community.” —Sarah D.
