Unfortunately re-learning the lessons of the '60s & '70s when hallucinogen use was clearly identified as a risk factor for schizophrenia. These data show that for some people any hallucinogen use is unsafe, and yet rate of use recently has doubled especially among younger people.

Individuals with an ED visit involving hallucinogen use had a greater risk of developing a schizophrenia spectrum disorder compared with both the general population and with individuals with ED visits for other types of substances. ja.ma/4eqM6jD
