A farm near Gorey @ballyowenbioschool were delighted to report seeing their first Buff-tailed bumblebee of the year.
It was resting on the silage and moved to a Dandelion for some much-needed nectar.

What a day 💪we moved one of our beds, which took an army, we appreciate all our volunteers who come week after week and do trojan work, Randa brought us a pasta salad & Maria made a lentil dahl and we finished with a banana cake from Luna, we could open our own restaurant 😀

Lovely fresh morning here in the garden, Dillion sealed the pipes on the water tanks so they are winter ready, Keelan topped up some more beds, we found a beautiful hawk-moth caterpillar and Luna made us banana and Rye scones for lunch, big welcome to all our new volunteers

Getting our raised beds topped up and planting in some seedlings, we had a rosemary and olive sourdough to go with our salad and potatoes from the garden,and Maria pickled some of our cucumber,our lunches are always so satisfying when you know you have planted it all yourself 🌱
Once found all over Ireland, the Great Yellow Bumblebee is now restricted to the Mullet Peninsula & adjacent mainland

Chilly start to our day, but we weren't long warming up.
Finished our raised bed covers and weeded the Raspberry bed, we picked some beautiful romaine lettuce. 🥗
The strong scent of sweet pea fills the garden,☺️ Maria made a warming pot of Kohlrabi soup after a busy morning
