I have always placed my life in the hands of God and His divine Providence. From a young age, my deep love of art and music was shaped by the Benedictine monks of Westminster Abbey in my hometown of Mission, British Columbia—especially through the inspiring guidance and friendship of the late great artist and monastic, Father Dunstan Massey and my parish priest Father Thomas Nicholson OMI.
My grandmother gave me the courage to believe in myself and the strength to follow my own unique path. My mother and aunt taught me to hold my head high and never concern myself with the opinions of others.
Today, on my 38th birthday—June 13, the Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua—I am struck by the beautiful coincidence and profound significance of this day. Saint Anthony, the beloved Franciscan preacher, miracle worker, and patron of the lost, is celebrated worldwide for his intercession in finding what is missing—whether objects, direction, or even faith itself. Being born on his feast day feels like no accident, but rather a gentle sign from divine Providence, a lifelong reminder that I am never truly lost and that God’s hand is always guiding me.
I am who I am—fully and unapologetically—because of these remarkable people who poured love, wisdom, and faith into my life. Their influence, combined with the grace of this special day, continues to sustain and inspire me. For that, I am eternally thankful.
Happy 38th birthday to me—a day of gratitude, reflection, and joyful celebration of the beautiful journey that has brought me here.
