Castletown isn't just any green space; it holds immense cultural, historical, and environmental significance for our community. Protesters are currently on-site, but they need more support! We must protect our cultural, historical, and environmental heritage.2/2

I hope more people get out and look at our rivers, you'd be supprised how much life you see. Of course only if the rivers water quality is suitable for life. "The truth is that we will never save wildlife by killing it" - Steve Irwin @EMPIRE_DCU #protectourrivers

Here are the results I received from the lab I sent the water sample to. I'll have a look at EQS (environmental quality standards) guidelines as soon as I have time. In the meantime I'm sending it out for whomever is interested and would like to comment. #ryeriverpollution

As I mentioned before in regards to this test. The samples were taken a few hours after the suspected release. So samples may have been diluted. Thankfully it seems that PAH, detergents and heavy metals were not at high concentrations (at the time of sampling)

This would be one of the worst outcomes which I can think of for the Rye River pollution. A farmer in County Monaghan Farmer who polluted a river with silage effluent got a € 400 fine legal fees. How can we protect our rivers if the fines are so low. fishinginireland.info/2022/o…

Yesterday was a great day for river water sampling. These samples will go on to help build a profile on the global presence of pharmaceuticals in rivers. See here for more ⬇️ globalpharms.org/ @EMPIRE_DCU @DCUWater @John_Wilkinson4 @AlistairBoxall #globalpharms

The source has been identified and the situation is being addressed. Thankfully it was not an intentional release. Cleanup operations are underway. Thanks for following up Vanessa.
