PROTECTS (Protecting terrestrial ecosystems through sustainable pesticide use) project with partners at UCD, TCD, MU, DCU and Teagasc. Funded by @agriculture_ie
Pesticide residues are found in nectar and soils. But are there implications for bees, and what can we do to help? Read on to find out more from the PROTECTS project in Ireland! protects.ucd.ie/vimeo.com/788284760/97ec9d87… 1/16
ATTENTION ECOTOX PEOPLE: We wrote a primer on bee and pesticide science! Specifically written to be an accessible short guide for post / undergrads. It explains all the basic lingo and concepts in simple language. @DaraStanleydoi.org/10.1111/1365-2664.14…
What a gorgeous picture! And what a wonderful project! If you don't know about it, you should definitely check out the website protects.ucd.ie/ you'll also get to see some more gorgeous pics of the bees 🐝
Well done to all involved. 🙌

Take home: Pesticides in Ireland leave residues in soils, nectar & pollen. They can have impacts on bees, but the level of risk for fungicides and herbicides needs more work. We need better pesticide usage data, & better mitigation measures, to track change and reduce risk 16/16
