While passengers see the cabin crew and pilots, some of Etihad Airways’ most important employees rarely leave the hangar. Aircraft engineers at the Abu Dhabi-based airline can earn up to AED 35,000 a month, with annual compensation exceeding AED 420,000 for some senior certifying staff. Their job carries a huge responsibility: deciding whether an aircraft is safe to return to service after maintenance. Unlike technicians, who carry out inspections and repairs, licensed engineers have the legal authority to sign aircraft release paperwork. That means every defect, repair, and safety check ultimately falls under their responsibility. Etihad’s engineers work across one of the Gulf’s most advanced fleets, including the Airbus A350, A380, Boeing 777, and 787 Dreamliner. The airline typically looks for candidates with years of maintenance experience and recognised aviation licences, making these roles some of the most sought-after technical jobs in commercial aviation. For many technicians, reaching engineer status remains the ultimate career goal. #EtihadAirways #AircraftEngineer #AviationJobs

"Accounting is your primary information system for making decisions, so if that information is bad, your decisions will be bad too." - David Cote, ex CEO Honeywell [reminds me of this from Titan... “For Rockefeller, ledgers were sacred books that guided decisions and saved one from fallible emotion. They gauged performance, exposed fraud, and ferreted out hidden inefficiencies. In an imprecise world, they rooted things in solid empirical reality. As he chided slipshod rivals, ‘Many of the brightest kept their books in such a way that they did not actually know when they were making money on a certain operation and when they were losing.’”]

Last week (June 8), before the US-Iran deal was announced, I published this @Opinion column about the re-start of oil production in the Persian Gulf region. I argued it would go much faster than many are expecting. I still think that's the case. bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

From the McKinsey Study ... "Examining the quartile distribution of TRS for companies relative to industry peers, we find that long-term firms are approximately 50 percent more likely to be in in the top decile and top quartile for total shareholder returns in their industry than other companies and approximately 10 percent less likely to have total shareholder returns below their industry median. Long-term companies representing 27 percent of the total sample capture a disproportionate 44 percent of the growth in total returns to shareholders from 2001-2014." mckinsey.com/~/media/mckinse…

"A McKinsey study found that firms that followed long-term strategies amassed $7 billion more in market capitalization between 2001 and 2014, and generated 47 percent more revenue growth and 36 percent more earnings growth, on average, than companies that took a shorter-term approach." - David Cote, ex CEO Honeywell #long_term

"I made it my job to understand reality on the ground, in large part, as mentioned, by getting out there and talking to frontline staff, but also by talking to managers a couple of layers down from me to get their opinions on key business issues, and by routinely querying my team members about how we were executing and how we might do things better." - David Cote, ex CEO Honeywell #walk_the_floor

CBAM auf Waschmaschinen? Ich rate meinen Kunden: Die EU baut Bürokratie statt Kapazität. Wer importiert, zahlt die Zeche.

New energy sources can scale with surprising speed. US shale gas has grown faster than any previous source, including the historic expansions of Saudi oil and Indonesian coal. Solar and wind are now following their own rapid growth trajectories. Learn more: mck.co/acenturyofplenty

Poverty reduction isn’t enough if inequality persists. The @WorldBankGroup’s Prosperity Gap shows that income growth must benefit the poorest to create lasting change. Explore the data: wrld.bg/o9iO50Zbc5x

1/ Is gold collapsing right now? 📉⚠️ A cyclical warning signal is flashing red: The ratio of global gold market capitalization to M2 liquidity has run extremely hot. Historically, such macro overheating was often followed by a correction.

😱I have always though the #Dutch were reasonable people....#taxesonunrealisedgains All #investors & #entrepreneurs will leave the #Netherlands soon. This is the way to impoverish your country.

Geopolitical instability has made electrification more urgent for four in five business executives. This is what one of the biggest corporate polls since the Middle East energy crisis says. My Substack today is on the same topic. open.substack.com/pub/janros…

Also: toi, toi, toi.
