For all the talented and hardworking @EIAgov staff rationalizing our antiquated system architecture and rebuilding mission-critical products hardcoded in near-dead languages, I have one message: Full Steam Ahead.

Thanks for the reply! I know you've spoken about it as a priority, and I'd love to hear more about how AI is being integrated into your modernization agenda, how it's being used, and how we (the rest of the energy analysis community) might learn from you all!

Let's chat about those PDFs. Do you use the 62-page version or the table-by-table?

JSON is where it's at! (I'm a developer) Any AI tool can help you parse it quickly. I'm surprised they kept HTML over PDF.

🤩 Big thanks to EIA Administrator Tristan Abbey (@EIA_One) for delaying planned changes to the EIA's Weekly Petroleum Status Report—specifically how the data updates are hosted—in order to solicit feedback from the analyst community. I made a bit of a stink about it last week and I've always appreciated how receptive the @EIAgov is to earnest feedback.
Pausing plans to revise the WPSR publication: nothing changes June 10. It does need to be modernized, but we'll take our time to get it right. You deserve a robust opportunity to provide input on what we've proposed: eiainfopetroleum@eia.gov. No black holes: I will read it all.

Last week, we announced changes to how the Weekly Petroleum Status Report is published. We are pausing implementation to solicit more feedback from users.

Big natural gas news! Working stocks fell 360 Bcf in the Lower 48 for week ending Jan 30, 2026, amid Winter Storm Fern. That's the largest weekly net withdrawal in Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report history. #TodayInEnergy #naturalgas bit.ly/3MrWuzJ

Small pellet. Huge energy. 🤯 One uranium fuel pellet packs more power than you might guess.

Thrilled to launch the new WNGSR Supplement, featuring vastly improved data visualization and a cleaner production process. Why the hook on the WNGSR? Because that's the only Principal Federal Economic Indicator that we publish.
