“It is certainly hard to believe that a little company that started in a warehouse in El Segundo is now going public with the largest IPO ever.” Only in America. Congratulations to @elonmusk @SpaceX. This is the American Dream 🇺🇸💪🚀

friedrich list is basically forgotten in america despite building his ideas off hamilton & clay and being wildly popular in asia to this day. prob worth reading
So one of the leading economists in China is a Friedrich List scholar incorporating "New Listian Economics" in China's developmennt policy? "With the presentation of China’s new development pattern of Dual Circulation 国内国际双循 环 at a Meeting of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission 中央财经委员会 in April of 2020 and its subsequent enshrinement as a guiding principle in the country’s 14th five-year plan (FYP) (Y. Liu, 2021), Jia Genliang’s strategy of Great Domestic Circulation appears to have, at least verbally, reached the pinnacle of the policy pyramid. In fact, although the official formulation refers to mutual reinforcement between domestic and international circulation, it clearly identifies the ‘great’ domestic circulation as the developments strategy’s core."

Researchers at leading labs have started smoking. Their logic: AGI will cure cancer before it kills them. Are you lighting a cigarette because you're that confident the models will cure cancer in time? No? not AGI-pilled...

Replying to @brivael
Edison was brilliant too. AC was the right choice back then, but DC is the right choice today, as solar, batteries, electric cars and computers all use DC. Many years from now, there will not be much AC left.

been very impressed with how Google is approaching power. BYOC deals with voltus recently acq intersect building new power & grid upgrades. very cool!
This is the model of data center development we should all be advocating for. Google is building 1.4 GW of solar and wind capacity to power their 840 MW data center and using basically no water. This project also helps explain why Google paid $4.75 billion for Intersect Power, the developer of Meiter Energy Center. Intersect has gigawatts of clean energy capacity in the Texas interconnection queue. Thanks to a new rule passed last year, they can effectively share that interconnection with data centers. So rather than wait 5 years to bring online a 840 MW data center, Google is going to bring it online in October 2027.

consumer surplus of “tech” is so wild. most people spend 10 hours a day on free apps with their super devices, ordering goods from the other side of the world to their doorstep. what a time to be alive

This is where the fun begins. From the plaza of the Lucas Museum, visitors are greeted by the original N-1 Starfighter that was used in Star Wars: Episode I, featuring R2-D2 in position to pilot the craft and welcome you to the museum. #LucasMuseum #GeorgeLucas #N1Starfighter #museum #sneakpeek

We can finally talk about the worst kept secret in hardware. Proud to partner with @boxcardavid, @jordansanders0, and the @westmagco team as they scale motor and actuator production in America. Why here? Because it's home.
Westmag is building American robot actuators and drone motors at scale. In 2025, @westmagco raised $11M led by @a16z, with participation from @FoundersFund, @LuxCapital, NFDG, @MenloVentures, and other top investors. Since then, we’ve been building industrial capacity, crawling up supply chains, and securing high-volume customers. Now, we’re ramping production at our factory in South San Francisco to deliver against committed offtake orders from high-volume customers. Westmag is committed to scaling quickly in the US to deliver millions of drone motors and robot actuators to the surging domestic and global market. We’re building the great American motor and actuator company.

While it's true that Anthropic and OpenAI remain out of reach for most investors, investing in AI is actually quite accessible already. Many public cos in semis, power, memory, photonics, etc. are up nearly 2x YTD. AI returns are remarkably democratized, and in some cases, rival/exceed what you'd see in the private markets.
Jun 1
SITUATION EXPLAINED: Anthropic just filed a confidential S-1 with the SEC. • A confidential filing lets a company submit for SEC review without disclosing financial details publicly. • This gives the company the option to IPO once the SEC completes its review. • Anthropic was valued at $2-5B in early 2023. It is now valued at $965B. • Share count and price have not been set. • All gains so far have accrued to employees, VCs, and institutional investors @theojaffee: "Two-thirds of Americans own some stocks. But none of them have been able to benefit from OpenAI and Anthropic going from a couple billion to a trillion dollars over the span of a few years."
