Today marks a new chapter in enlargement history. EU member states have agreed to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova. There is no Europe without Ukraine and Moldova, countries of immense courage and resolve. 🇺🇦🇲🇩

EPP is the driver of enlargement, as it fosters security, peace, stability and prosperity in Europe. More than a process, it is a shared goal and responsibility to promote common values, foster growth and support reconciliation.

The future of Europe will be shaped in the Western Balkans. Today in Sarajevo, Secretary General @DolorsMM called to bring this region closer. Every step towards Europe strengthens democracy, stability and freedom, and weakens those who seek influence through division.

The enlargement process is not only a dream, it must be a reality felt by the people. It is not only a political issue, but also a security one. We need to be strong, pragmatic, and strategic, said EPP President @ManfredWeber in his remarks in Sarajevo.

EU enlargement is not only a strategic priority—it is a geopolitical necessity. We are in Sarajevo for our annual study visit and conference in the Western Balkan region.

In Sarajevo, we took part in the panel discussion, “Launching Enlargement: The EPP’s Leadership Role in the Western Balkans,” together with @EPP President @ManfredWeber, Montenegrin Prime Minister @MickeySpajic, and High Representative @OHR_BiH Christian Schmidt. We emphasized the importance of positive momentum for the EU enlargement policy in the context of changed geopolitical circumstances. Croatia is a strong advocate of 🇪🇺 enlargement in the #WesternBalkans, and we are particularly committed to supporting the European perspective of neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina. This issue is crucial for the stability of Southeast Europe. Despite the complexity and challenges of the enlargement process, we believe it is essential to remain actively engaged on this issue and keep it high on the 🇪🇺 agenda and in future discussions.
