If you have an opportunity to apply for the European Union Visitors Programme (EUVP), take it.
I am an alumni. I had the opportunity to be part of the programme in 2024 and it was a week well spent in Brussels. The EUVP is a tailor-made study where you get a blend of individual and joint activities and meetings with members of the European Parliament, officials from the EU Institutions, and other EU stakeholders.
As staff of the African Union, it was particularly of interest for me to interact with peers from an organization that has a near similar stature to the AU, and to share with them experiences, priorities, projects and programmes of the AU and explore ways of enhancing our collaboration.
During the visit I also had the opportunity to meet with a few Members of the European Parliament and to get a sense of their interests in Africa. And... I met many of their communication teams and a number of their communication projects are worth borrowing a leaf from. Great work.
It is an intense week of useful engagements so if you get selected, clear your diary and wear comfortable shoes (very important).
The programme has great coordinators who ensure your visit is meaningful. Piotr, Robert and the entire team are awesome.
EUVP Alumni include former and current national political leaders, high-ranking government officials, academics, business leaders, young political leaders and opinion shapers from countries and international organisations outside the EU.
Thats your plug for today. -
