Raise a glass for new #PhD in the house: so proud of Dr @AnnaleaBeard who just passed her PhD viva yesterday with flying colours. Already 4 (!) data chapters published, she's already made an incredible contribution to increase knowledge about #StHelena #seabirds and conservation

We've been granted judicial review – we're taking the government to court over the delay and abandonment of key Net Zero policies . At this crisis point for nature and climate we need robust leadership that listens to best informed advice , not short termism and politicking .

As brilliant as the petrels and shearwaters are, I think the Great Black-backed Gulls are the most thrilling birds on Skokholm. This is where 'our' birds have been this last decade. Younger birds spend their time farthest from Skokholm, before gravitating back as they mature.

Happy International Bog Day! We love bogs! But does @GOVUK? It has been 11 months since @DefraGovUK announced that it would ban the sale of bagged peat compost. Where is the legislation? We are calling upon the UK Government to follow through on its promise to ban peat sales.

Delighted that another Advanced Data Analysis course has gone well. Really interesting and insightful questions asked by Jenny and the other participants. For more info on courses visit eco-explore.co.uk/statistics…

An excellent course on advanced data analysis in R with @RobThomas14 and @PiedflyWales . Everything was so well explained and I'm very inspired to try new approaches on my data. A thoroughly enjoyable two days. #RStats @Ecoexplore

In 2021 @SkokholmIsland Wheatears nested in a Storm Petrel nestbox in the wall leading north from the Obs. (We adapted our nestbox camera and got great footage). It’s in use again. This female (C38) had a nest on the other side of the wall in 2021. A case of nestbox envy?

Lovely to chat to Richard about data and analysis. Trying to break down the fear and help people understand the results of their hard work better. #MitigationMatters #RStats #TrainingTuesday
Richard Dodd talks on today's show with Jeremy Smith on why we should take data seriously. On the show Jez tells us why we need to think and ask more questions to help solve real life problems such as biodiversity loss. rb.gy/m4h6h #podcast #ecology #conservation

So lovely to have @Cardiff_RSPB to the woods to see our research and lovely that they enjoyed it so much. Amazing to also have our first record of Tawny owl breeding in the woods!

Always lovely to get such nice feedback on both the book and the course 😊. Very much looking forward to hearing more in time about @PenkovaElitsa 's research.
Highly recommend this friendly guidebook by ⁦@Ecoexplore⁩. For any still fresh postgrads working on designing their research methods I also recommend the very intensive 5-day data analysis &R course by the authors. Gave me lots to think about &learnt to make maps in R! 🗺️🤓
