Hey Sal, Just for the record and as a former Sabre, with a memorable moment of my own, #Mayday Gilbert Perreault IS the #1 Sabre of ALLTIME! Not even a debate. (Hasek, Andreychuk,Lafontaine, Miller are all great but not they’re not Gilbert.)

Shooting an unarmed person in the back, when they are on their knees, is first-degree murder. It's what Hamas or the IRGC do.

No new funding. Kristi Noem must RESIGN. Greg Bovino must be FIRED. Suspend the LAWLESS mass deportation raids nationwide NOW — ICE is no longer just deporting dangerous criminals. Send the border patrol back to the border. End the militarization of ICE the sick racial profiling. End the perverse cash incentives that are bounties to perpetrate Trump’s cruel agenda. Require thorough, real background checks for everyone, and 2 years of training before even setting foot in the field. INVESTIGATE and PROSECUTE every single federal agent who is breaking the law.

It is so difficult to cope with the inventory of evil unfolding to the South. It’s like an extremely bad movie unfolding in horrifying slow motion. We seem largely helpless to do much more than reel. Maybe that’s the point.

It’s easy to watch the news and feel overwhelmed or even helpless at everything going on. I need you to fight that feeling. I’m an optimist. You have to be when you strap yourself to a rocket for a living. But there’s real reason to be hopeful this year and l’ll tell you why.

Pete Hegseth is coming after what I earned through my twenty-five years of military service, in violation of my rights as an American, as a retired veteran, and as a United States Senator whose job is to hold him—and this or any administration—accountable. His unconstitutional crusade against me sends a chilling message to every retired member of the military: if you speak out and say something that the President or Secretary of Defense doesn’t like, you will be censured, threatened with demotion, or even prosecuted. Every servicemember knows military rank is earned, not given. It's earned through the risks you take, the sacrifices you and your family make, the leadership you display, and the respect you earn from the superiors who recommend you for promotion. From the moment I drove through the gates of Naval Air Station Pensacola, to when I was shot at over Iraq and Kuwait, to when I landed Space Shuttle Endeavour on its last mission, I gave everything I had to this country and I earned my rank of Captain, United States Navy. Now, Pete Hegseth wants our longest-serving military veterans to live with the constant threat that they could be deprived of their rank and pay years or even decades after they leave the military just because he or another Secretary of Defense doesn’t like what they’ve said. That’s not the way things work in the United States of America, and I won’t stand for it. In 1986, at just 22 years old, I took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. I have fulfilled that oath every day since, but I never expected that I would have to defend it against a Secretary of Defense or President. But I’ve never shied away from a fight for our country, and I won’t shy away from this one. Because our freedom of speech, the separation of powers, and due process are not just words on a page, they are bedrock principles of our democracy that has lasted 250 years and will last 250 more as long as patriotic Americans are willing to stand up for our rights. So today, I filed a lawsuit against the Secretary of Defense because there are few things as important as standing up for the rights of the very Americans who fought to defend our freedoms.

Yep. But they won’t.
The Board of Directors of Postmedia should call for the firing of Passifiume and the printing of an apology for his violent and pathetic opinions, if management won't take that step on their own. postmedia.com/investors-gove…

Kellogg: Zelenskyy's a tough son of a b*tch. He's stubborn. He has his opinion. He's unafraid to say that. He knows how to use media. I said [to Trump] he was an embattled and courageous leader. We in the United States have not seen a leader like him since Abraham Lincoln. 1/

🟥 This cartoon, featuring the Conservative MP from Oklahoma, remains forever one of De Adder's best cartoons. 😄🙇🏻‍♂️ Even so many months later, it still tickles me with its depth and accuracy. Whenever I see it, I never fail to chuckle. 🙂

Favourable outlook on US is now dramatically lower than at any point in our history. The only country with a slightly lower rating is Russia.

This week marks 15 years since I was shot. Watching the president and his administration target my husband for speaking out is beyond disappointing—it’s a disturbing abuse of power that should alarm every American. @CaptMarkKelly is driven by principle and duty. No bully can diminish his unwavering commitment to our country.
Over twenty-five years in the U.S. Navy, thirty-nine combat missions, and four missions to space, I risked my life for this country and to defend our Constitution – including the First Amendment rights of every American to speak out. I never expected that the President of the United States and the Secretary of Defense would attack me for doing exactly that. My rank and retirement are things that I earned through my service and sacrifice for this country. I got shot at. I missed holidays and birthdays. I commanded a space shuttle mission while my wife Gabby recovered from a gunshot wound to the head– all while proudly wearing the American flag on my shoulder. Generations of servicemembers have made these same patriotic sacrifices for this country, earning the respect, appreciation, and rank they deserve. Pete Hegseth wants to send the message to every single retired servicemember that if they say something he or Donald Trump doesn’t like, they will come after them the same way. It’s outrageous and it is wrong. There is nothing more un-American than that. If Pete Hegseth, the most unqualified Secretary of Defense in our country’s history, thinks he can intimidate me with a censure or threats to demote me or prosecute me, he still doesn’t get it. I will fight this with everything I’ve got — not for myself, but to send a message back that Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump don’t get to decide what Americans in this country get to say about their government.

Tit for tat.
Not a single media outlet reported on PM Carney’s “Who cares” comment, which is arguably a major diplomatic faux pas. Imagine if President Trump said "Who cares" about Canada...

Debates are legitimate. Opinions are legitimate. But the numbers are not optional. Approximately 87 percent of workers in the Temporary Foreign Worker Program report employment income in Canada. For those in the International Mobility Program, the figure is about 69 percent. These numbers come from Statistics Canada, and the most recent data for 2023 and 2024 show that the trend remains stable. Now for the math. Roughly 700,000 temporary foreign workers report income each year. Their average annual income is about $42,000. Using a conservative effective tax rate of approximately 15 percent, the calculation is straightforward: 700,000 workers × $42,000 = $29.4 billion in total employment income 15 percent of that amount in taxes = more than $4.4 billion paid annually More than four billion dollars in taxes, every single year. This is factual, documented, and verifiable. This social media post has revealed that the Government of Canada has spent over $7.1 billion in taxpayer dollars on childcare for non-permanent residents and other non-citizens over the last nine years. This represents an average cost of approximately $789 million per year. Let us have the real debate. The question is not whether temporary foreign workers contribute, because they do. The question is how many we actually need, and in which sectors. We should also ask whether companies like Walmart and McDonald’s ought to rely on temporary foreign workers rather than offering those jobs to Canadian youth and seniors. At the same time, we must recognize that industries such as agriculture and construction genuinely depend on this workforce. And finally, we should ensure that the workers we attract are those whose skills can meaningfully strengthen the Canadian economy in the short, mid, and long term. Many of those who come here, work hard, and play by the rules should have a clear pathway to becoming permanent residents and, in time, Canadian citizens.

Ontario’s Conservatives passed a law in 2019 to allow speed-cameras on the taxpayer dime - now they’re making us pay millions to remove them. Another costly, dangerous flip-flop. Why can’t we at least keep them in school zones to protect students? #onpoli cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/o…
