Today’s Edinburgh Disgraces are legion, and much worse than a half built Parthenon. See unending road works, overflowing bins, unmanaged parks and gardens.

@BrittanyFerries Do you run a service from Portsmouth to Jersey? Your website says you do but the route options drop downs in booking form only has Guernsey. Website seems out of date.

At risk of sounding like a High Court judge I have genuinely never heard of this chap Scott Mills before the last few days but it’s been leading the news. Am I alone? Why does the BBC think we are so interested in him?
Who could replace Scott Mills as Radio 2's Breakfast Show host? bbc.in/4sKjERS

Data centres….
🚨 NEW: A Kentucky family turned down a $26 million offer to convert part of their farm into a data center, roughly 10 times local land value. "If it's my way, I'll stay and hold and feed a nation. 26 million doesn't mean anything."

@Edinburgh_CC why do your contractors put traffic management signs on narrow pavements? See here Restalrig Terrace. Think about pedestrians inc those with visual impairment. Hardly any space to pass.

Free bus pass holders dominating the airwaves today. Feargal Sharkey lambasting water regulators and these guys promoting their pension top up tour, and Burnham for PM.

Tony Benn wrote in his diary on Monday 16th February 1987: “Today we had a meeting of the NEC and the Shadow Cabinet. The first since Neil Kinnock became leader. Kinnock introduced the meeting and spoke for about twenty minutes. We went on to Peter Mandelson who said a few words. I find Mandelson a threatening figure for the future of the Party.” Prophetic words. Tony Benn proved to be a much shrewder judge of character than Tony Blair and Keir Starmer.

Thursday 25 December 1662 (Christmas Day). Up pretty early, leaving my wife not well in bed, and with my boy walked, it being a most brave cold and dry frosty morning, and had a pleasant walk to White Hall, where I intended to have received the Communion with the family, but I came a little too late. By and by down to the chappell again where Bishopp Morley preached upon the song of the Angels, “Glory to God on high, on earth peace, and good will towards men.” Methought he made but a poor sermon … The sermon done, a good anthem followed, with vialls, and then the King came down to receive the Sacrament... I walked home again with great pleasure, and there dined by my wife’s bed-side with great content, having a mess of brave plum-porridge and a roasted pullet for dinner, and I sent for a mince-pie abroad, my wife not being well to make any herself yet… so to my office, practising arithmetique alone and making an end of last night’s book with great content till eleven at night, and so home to supper and to bed. Merry Christmas

@edinhelp @Edinburgh_CC Have you been down the Shore recently? There are some people working for you who keep obstructing pavements with clutter. How are blind pedestrians expected to cope with this hostile environment?

Perhaps you just want to abolish pedestrians regardless of whether they can see or not? Going the right way about it.
